Steroids and cutting.

Hi guys just looking for opinions here.

A pals on 800mg test and 300 mg tren..... He's on a cut. The cut is 250g protein per day for 14 days then a refeed (no fats or carbs essentially for fourteen days)

He claims his buddy that competes does this for the last two weeks up to a comp to help shift excess fat and claims the at amount of AAS means he would lose muscle. He was honest enough to say that he feels like utter ****, bear with a sore head but that his deficit is massive and in this two week period it's 28,000 cals.

So other than being very extreme and perhaps unnecessary, would it in theory work? If it's like a keto diet minus the fats. He does a depletion workout Mon wed and Fri and very short cardio everyday of 30mins sscv. He just started Monday but his made swears by this.

I'm tempted to try it as I'm not getting to the gym as much this month due to working hours, so figure that 200 odd grams of protein plus some gest would hold muscle and shift some fat.

If anyone has experience this then met me now, sounds like a mashed up version of like McDonald's rapid fat loss diet

Stats:

Bench: 165Kg 1RM
Squat: 190Kg 1RM
Deadlift: 220kg 1RM

Is starvation effective for losing fat fast? Of course it is.

You just have to accept that with such crash dieting there'll be loss of lean tissue too and forget about performance, or even life. I couldn't function properly on 1000 calories a day, all from protein on top. Of course the steroids will reduce muscle loss but even they can only do so much.

If I were to do something like that I'd go with straight tren, and a hefty amount of it at that. If you're gonna feel like crap anyway might as well make the most of it, tren will burn fat even on a surplus so with such a huge deficit you should be able to feel yourself getting lighter by the hour lol

From a nutritional point of view, won't the body just break down protein and use it for energy via Gluconeogenesis?

Yes. But there'll always be some left for muscle protein synthesis, while with no protein intake there'd be none at all.

So it slows down muscle loss, even if it doesn't stop it completely.

Never cut out fats and carbs, why are people constantly trying to reinvent the wheel?
When he reintroduces the fat and carbs he will just bounce back to the same weight.
If he's so fat that he needs to use such extreme measures he should have cut before even using the AAS.
Just run lowish fat (50) of healthy fats, lower carbs, and protein to reflect bodyweight, top that off with fasted cardio in the morning and/or cardio in the evening. For the most part with these extreme diets you just lose a ton of water weight and feel really happy thinking it's fat until you reintroduce carbs.

Interesting...

Surely though, adding in some EFA's would be beneficial too? 10g of fish oil say would at least give you a bit of cover.

I've done rapid fat loss which is basically the same as your mate with a bit of fat from omega 3 (not much) and the rest entirely from protein (plus green/salad veg). I did 2 weeks as a cat 1 (<=12% bf iirc)

Was much easier than I thought, stripped fat off me and didn't really lose any significant lean mass (measured by calliper readings and measurements plus no real strength loss). That was without gear, but was using ostarine. Wasn't really hungry after the first couple of days either.

The refeed was absolutely horrible and it ****ed my appetite for weeks after. No 'rebound' though - that's all pretty much bollocks IMO, just water and glycogen coming back on.

Will probably do it again next time I cut, either to kickstart a more moderate diet (probably the best way of using it tbh) or at the end if I want to speed things up.

As uriel says you will feel like crap, You need fats to Synthesis the majority of your hormones.
This is one major reason why women get so moody when dieting on low/No fat diets.

I was taking 8g fat a day from omega 3 and a tiny bit from my protein sources but that was it - felt fine tbh.
