Supermarket programme just on tv
Did anyone see this?
Its a programme that questions how healthy supermarket food is, I cant quite remember the name of it but I saw it today and found something very interesting.
They tested chickens from all the main supermarkets, tesco, asda, morrisons, sainsburys.
They ground up each chicken and tested how much fat there actually was in each chicken. Now supposedly as we all know chicken is very low in fat, but this study proved this to be very wrong!
There was almost 1 pints worth of fat from each chicken as a result of the fat test.
The guy was talking about how in the old days (70's,80's) chickens used to be healther and had less bodyfat, the fact that todays chickens are grown to be as big as possible (fed excess food without exercise) is the cause for this huge increase in the amount of fat in todays supermarket chicken. Regardless of this change the supermarkets do not seem to be changing the nutritonal values stated there poultry/
At first I refused to believe this, but now im wondering if it might actually be true because if it is then this could have a serious effect on mine and others health. I mean most of my protein comes from chicken breasts, and will do so throughout my life!
I just thought id post this here, maybe others saw this programme just now, maybe people like toxictoffe/james can give there input.
It would be much appreicated
