Supplements for focus and concentration?

Hello,

Hope it's okay to post here, as not a 'bodybuilding' supplement that I'm after...

So, I'm not sure if it's due to the many concussions that I've sustained in my lifetime or what, but my ability to focus doesn't appear to be what it was when I was studying.
I start a new job on Monday and it's really important that I'm on the ball and I want to give 100% and I really don't want to get distracted.

I take fish oil, and gingko bilboa (think that's how u spell it).  Just wondering if there's much else that can help?

There's quite a few nootropics on the market, are any decent?

Thanks in advance

I think its a matter of mindset to be honest mate.

One thing i do find though is that when im eating a good healthy balanced diet I'm much more focused. And good hydration is verya underrated too imo

DMAE (not DMAA) is pretty good. Daz hit the nail though, good diet and hydration with a massive empathises on hydration. Water, water, water

Well, that's where it becomes difficult. Lots of logs and opinions out there, but the racetams have good reception, noopept too, I'm afraid its ''google time'' for you and see what you fancy trying buddy.

I use Modafinil on occasions. Certainly does the job if you need to pull an all nighter or just want to mask tiredness but I would say I don't feel that great on it, get occasional mild headaches and if you're not careful you can get stuck in a cycle of needing to take it every day to feel good due to the sleep you're skimping on.

my attention span's gone west again as i've recently lost all interest in my work. colleagues are talking to me and my mind's permanently elsewhere. I was apparently told yesterday by my line manager in a meeting that several improvements i've been pushing for at work have been approved. don't remember this at all, but i do remember thinking about whether to buy finger protect goalkeeper gloves or negative roll gloves and debating whether or not i needed the extra grip or the finger protection.

the only time i can concentrate on what i'm doing is either on a football pitch or the gym.

(FWIW i went with the negative cut roll gloves - wet grip uber alles)

I buy it from an online pharmacy. This was on the recommendation of another member, I wouldn't normally buy drugs online.

My attention span is terrible, always has been. I get distracted easily and flit around between things too much.

You haven't gave yourself a lot of time to test something have you?

You don't want your first day in the new job to be a bad reaction to a supplement!

Taurine may help you though..

Re: Supplements for focus and concentration? 2014/10/09 14:14:10 (permalink)
Thanks guys.

I do a bit of meditation, definitely helps.
I went to a yoga retreat in crete in august.
Been reading up on Aryuvedic (sp?) medicine.  They put a big emphasis on digestion and sinuses. I have problems with both.  I have found over the last few days, if I eat 100% clean, and nothing 'stodgey' that I have a lot more energy and focus. I used to eat loads of peanut butter and all sorts in last job.  Today I've just had 2 smoothies with hemp protein, pumpkin seeds, spirriluna etc and feel alert despite having a cold.
I 'follow' a fitness and BJJ guy called Steve Maxwell who talks a lot about the strain of digestion etc.

I've got some taurine here, I'll take that monday.  Cheers.

I used to be big into MMA and all types of sports as a kid. I've had quite a few concussions over the years. Having done some reading on concussion it's quite frightening the affect it can have on cognitive functioning of all kinds.

PS those racetams look pretty crazy / hardcore?
