On The Flop
The Winter Strongman Competition was incredible. Meeting your idols is always a rush and watch Eddie Hall & Rob Frampton lift was a privilege. They're both really sound.  Also getting to meet Big Loz and Big Z was the icing on the cake. I'll try and upload the vids but not sure if I can do it from the iPad. Watching them all put their bodies through all that pain and stress is very humbling, a couple of them got injured but still soldiered on.

Back to training yesterday, went well considering my shoulder flared up during the benching. In fact it was a bit of a monster.

BENCH: 3 x 50
            3 x 60
            3 x 70
            3 x 80 x 4 shoulder flared up so dropped down 10kgs
            3 x 70 x 5

CGBP: 3 x 70 - left it there as shoulder just didn't feel right.

WGBP: 3 x 60 x 6 - No issues with shoulder at all

DEADLIFTS: 5 x 60 x 5
                   5 x 70 x 5
                   5 x 80 x 5

First time deadlifting since the back injury in October. Kept it light, tight and fast. My rule is now to only deadlift with DOH grip to stop my body twisting. So when it gets too heavy for my grip I'll use straps. Doing this keeps my form bang on. Loved it though, my back doesn't this morning, it's sore as hell!

MILITARY PRESS: 5 x 40 x 5

PUSH PRESS: 5 x 50 x 5
                    3 x 55 x 5

STANDING SHOULDER PRESS 20kg plate a side: 5 x 5

That was it. Another very enjoyable session, paying for it today.

I shall get round to everyone throughout the day as I'm swamped at work already.

You lucky bastard Deano! Id love to meet those guys.

Nice session btw. Bit odd that CGBP caused you shoulder issues and WG didnt. Its usually the other way round lol

Thanks dude. It'll be a busy one. Probably only gonna do some treadmill incline runs to blow out at the end. The next 3 days afterwards will be cv based.

No need to be scared brother

They're called Powerkick, from £land, 50mg of caffeine per tab. Is that a lot??

Called what? 50mg? Is that £lands home-brand version of Pro-Plus?!

Good luck with the pre mate. I'm normally buzzing off a half scoop but I rarely take them!

Flew out of bed before I had chance to cancel the alarm at 05:30, pre-supped up, strapped on the Chucks and made my way in.

Thought the bar was going to stick to my hands when I first started to warm up, fooking freezing!

BENCH: BAR x Loads
            3 x 50
            3 x 60
            3 x 70
            3 x 75 - Shoulder started playing up grrrrrr
            3 x 80
            2 x 82.50 x 5

All felt well until the 75's and that very noticeable lack of power from the impingement reared it's ugly head. It's not so much painful, there's just no feeling of any strength during the reps. My right arm becomes over dominant during the press to lock out. Definitely not going to break any records benching in the near future. My plan is to revert back to doing paused only and build them up very slowly and see how they go.

PAUSED: 5 x 60 x 5

WGBP: 3 x 60 x 5

TRAPBAR DEADLIFTS: 5 x 60
                                 5 x 70
                                 5 x 80
                                 5 x 90
                                 5 x 100
                                 5 x 110

First ever time I've used the TB, and that's the heaviest I've lifted from the floor since the back injury in October. Quite enjoyed them.

SLDL: 5 x 60 x 5

Nothing special, but again an exercise I've not done in a while.

MILITARY PRESS: 5 x 30
                          3 x 40
                          3 x 45 x 5

15kgs PLATE RAISES: 3 x 10

All done in 80mins. The No-Explode sup worked quite well, kept my focus and after about 30mins really felt alert.

Another enjoyable session. The benching is a bummer but reverting back to paused only may help push things on albeit at a slower rate than normal.

Cardio tomorrow and weighing in.

Diet has been bang on all week again, pretty much the same sort of food as last week.

Nice session mate. I know what you mean about a cold bar, my garage is getting down to about 5 degrees at the moment and it's like grabbing an icicle!

Nice one mate. If bb benching continues to cause you issues it may be worth using db's for a while. Trap bar should help look after your back too.

Cheers Kev. Good idea about the DB's, might give them a go next session. I did read up about the TB being a lot less stressful on the lower back, and they did feel pretty good.

5 degrees... Luxury (said in best yorkshiremans accent)... mines about 0-1 atm... I have even taken to wearing track pants ... nice work Deano, you thought of adjusting the flare of your elbows to see if that could help with the shoulder? perhaps bring them in slightly... it would make the lift slightly more tri dominant but may help... or flare them more alternatively... whichever helps more if they help at all
