TRICEP EXTENSION

Okay, on straight bar tricep extention i just wanna check my form because i think im doing them wrong and doing a completely different exercise, im leaning over the bar, and pressing the bar straight down with my palms, it still feels like its on my triceps?

but now ive checkedome youtube videos and it seems that people dont put their body over the bar and they dont push it straight down, but rather in a semi-circle position?
Is this latter description the right one and yield more tricep growth from this technique? Can someone give me some more details on both exercises and pointers
thanks

I see it performed both ways...

Personally(maybe due to limb length/body structure),if i perform pressdowns the first way you describe-pressing straight down-I get more of a chest pump than stimulating the tri's.

Others i know can't perform the semi circle(same path as a barbell curl) motion as it aggrivates their elbows..

the 2nd technique will put more of the work on the triceps and is what i do/would recommend.
