Take Me Out

Anyone see the episode last night?

Guy is on a breakfast date in Fernandos, brings his own food: oats.

How many of you would have done that?

I feel mainly sorry for him that he's believed bodybuilding dogma to such an extent that a) he thinks oats is the only "appropriate" breakfast food and b) he can't bring himself to have a single day off his precious diet.

One assumes he'd already chugged down a protein shake but brought the oats for the "sociable" eating part of the date.

Sorta suggest a reason why he would need to go on a dating show, apart from the obvious free holiday. If you can't have an off day on a first date or holiday, the other person is either going to think you're a bore or that they'll never be a priority for you.

So long as the breakfast choices were decent, then no.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

The sad part was that he made a point of eating them in front of her, while announcing it was part of his awesome lifting lifestyle ... Couldn't he have simply eaten them in private then played 'not hungry'  -  or even asking for something on the menu to be customised for his diet?

Maybe he brought the oats hoping he could sow them later on if the date went well

Tbh I don't think he was attention seeking. It's a lose-lose situation. You either claim you're not hungry and don't eat a thing or you do what he did. Neither is more satisfactory than the other. The obvious thing is that he suffers from an eating disorder but because that disorder doesn't pertain to anorexia or obesity nobody thinks that it is one. This guy's relationship with food clearly affects his life significantly. All for slightly better gainzzzzz. The bodybuilding community that pedal bull**** dogma about diet, nutrition, and training are not blameless.

Sorry SN but I have to agree with Z , he just wanted to announce his lifestyle was more important than a date , he was on a date with a fairly pretty girl and would have done better eating about 6 of the doughnuts and saying, Ive got abs no matter what I eat , why did he bother going on the show if he was getting ready for a contest?

if he brought a few protein bars , a shake or some chicken because they had no protein in his diet then it would have been a bit different , but would have eaten whatever they had on offer .

I often see this type of comment on this forum, is it really fair to have a go at people like this.

Everyone needs to start somewhere.

I didn't see it, but I would have been more impressed if he had chugged down a shake and some of dat der creatine and started hitting some most musculars in front of her.

He did have a good body but it was more of a 'fitness' look than bodybuilder look.

I agree though he really could have had a regular date without it making the slightest bit of difference. Some people take it too far!

Well he's obviously a lot to learn if he thought one day off would affect his diet to such an extent!!

Whilst I thought it was funny etc, for those of you who do compete, imagine saying to someone who preps you "Sorry, I need a day off my diet, I'm going on a date on Take Me Out"
I can think of several coaches/gurus who would absolutely tell me to 'do one' in no uncertain terms

It did cross my mind though that he didn't look like he was dieting, in the slightest...

It's the big deal he made of it though. I get the feeling he thought it would properly impress her.
