Tarmacking? any1 done it?

Does anybody know or has done tarmacking before? I am thinking of tarmacking my own garden. I can get the roller to flat the surface.

What other stuff would i require? i.e to make the tarmack etc.

Any help would be apreciated!

Thanks!

Why not plant a meadow that little rabbits and baby deer and chirpy little songbirds could live in?

I always thought you needed to dig down, lay a base etc. a fairly big job.

I wish I was more attractive like Dagless.

Lol not a fan of that type of garden John.

But as to my garden, its already kinda flat, think it looks like cement or some crap. But I'd like to make it more smoother and make it look nicer with Tarmc

    you have.

I did it years ago for a while, public footpaths and such

You'll need to excavate the area ( about 6" deep, lay hardcore 3/4" whacker it down, some teran or similar for weed prevention then your tarmac.

Horrible job in the summer as it's pretty warm to work with without the weather!

It's finally arrived....PM Neb for swaps!

Is this just for the garden? just to take foot fall and not to park cars?

    How thick is the base?

If it's just to walk on and the base was solid enough then you'll want to put some concrete edgings around the perimeter (to contain the tarmac and stop it spilling everywhere), dug into the ground and concreted in, obviously the section of the edging left as the upstand will determine the depth of the tarmac.

I'd want about 2' thick of tarmac, so once the edgings have gone off (set) fill it up with tarmac....shovel it in, roll it, shovel some more roll again and repeat until the tarmac is level with tiop top of the edgings and nicely rolled flat.

Keep wetting the roller to stop the tarmac sticking to it.

I've never seen a tarmac garden mate LOL...what about a nice patio LOL

id save myself the bother and flag it or concrete it. both require a base. thought they do not have to be hot.
