Thailand

Greetings

Right, I'm planning on going to Thailand with the missus in december this year for 2 weeks. I want to go to the full moon party on 10th of December, towards the end of my trip as I imagine I'll then reside in a thai prison for the rest of my days. Has anyone done the full moon party whats it like?

Please can people advise where to go for the rest of the trip , I'm after beautiful preferably un touristy areas! I quite like peace and quiet, scuba diving helicopter rides blah blah blah, all sorts of things like that. Never been before, usually go to OZ

Thanks

It's fvcking horrendous mate... people chundering and fighting all over the place but if you like getting sh1tfaced then it's good for a laugh.

I enjoyed it but i was off my head, wouldn't do it again though.

steer clear of the drugs though at the party itself, the same people selling them are usually working for the police and they bubble you, you end up paying a few thousand baht to bail yourself out of their horrendous jails and they get a cut of that. Plus you get your drugs confiscated which inevitably get given back to the dealer to resell/bubble someone else with.

their justice system is corrupt to the core and their prisons are horrendous aids ridden death pits. Not at all worth the risk.

As your going with the missus i can't really help with other places to visit, i didn't really spend much time in relaxing, family atmospheres myself.

The Pi pi islands are nice though but only for a couple of nights, there's 2 islands there, one where you'l stay and the other a few miles off the coast where they filmed the beack, well worth a visit and pi pi is only a couple of hours on a boat from Phuket. The beaches are fantasic there.

Thanks for taking the time to write that mate. The thing that worries me is once I'm pi55ed I'll probably end up trying to score and end up in prison so maybe the moon party is best avoided!
I generally just like messing around in the wildlife on holiday but figured i should go to the party as everyone seems to go on about it. But prison sounds pretty w4nk lol

it's probably a bit over rated to be honest mate and the island itself is out of the way and involved a boat trip from phuket iirc.

I've had more fun on nights in Manchester if i'm honest but it was a decent enough night.

See how you feel when you get there, you can always kip on the beach if you can find a spot that someone isn't shagging in and leave your stuff back at your hotel on the mainland if needs be.

Travel by bus/coach/boat costs very , very little so it's not the money side that would put any one off going, there's no real financial reason not to go. Depends what you're into.

I wouldn't go with the missus personally... my motto is " You don't bring your own food to a Buffet "

I don't think she wants to go after seeing a programme the other night about someone being shot there. She gets so pissed anyway she probably end up getting raped, i'm best off on my own and she can pick my remains up off the beech at 5am after being bummed by a local no doubt. As long as i'm asleep, no biggie i guess

I voted go to the moon party. Life's short and you should make the most of every opportunity to get sh1t faced and go to prison that comes your way.

I spent 4 months travelling thru Asia last year and then took my missus on a two break to all the nice places i'd been too.

We flew into Bangkok, down to Samui, Phangan and then on to Tao. Off all the three places she loved Tao, especially as she got her diving license there. Phangan has some wonderfully secluded beaches. Look at places in the North of the island, away from Had Rin.

On the other hand, fly to Phuket, stay there for a few days and then get a boat over to Phi Phi and maybe Krabi. I enjoyed Phi Phi and you can alo get ya PADI there...

Thanks chamber. Sorry to sound a osagi  retard but how far are all these places apart. Can I just fly into the airport get a car and dive to most of them or are extra flights required. I don't mind 5 hour drives or whatever
