The 2011 British Grand Prix

First an foremost I wanted to say a huge congratulation to everybody that took part in the 2011 British Grand Prix. I think everybody that went a long to watch the amateur and pro shows would agree that nearly everyone 'brought it' and the stage, lighting and arena were, in my opinion, on a par with the Olympia itself (after attending the last two years as a spectator)
Secondly I wanted to thank James, Neil and Simon for their incredible work to put on this show in record time. Of course there were undoubtedly a few teething problems but with the next 5 years booked it can only go from strength to strength.
Thirdly I want to thank each and every fan/spectator that came and supported the show and the expo, without you guys it wouldn't have been what it was......A HUGE SUCCESS!!

Last but not least I wanted to thank everyone for their incredibly kind messages of congratulations over the past 4 days. I have literally had over a hundred goodwill messages and its really touched me. I wanted to bring something different to this show and considering my prep was only 9 weeks in duration, I am delighted by what I brought. The improvements were actually made as I dieted which is why I am now so excited about what can be accomplished in a good 4 month off season period before my prep for the 202 Showdown starts.
I wanted to say a massive thankyou to my team. Big H, Mike and Leica Gelsei and of course Karen and the Show tan team!!! Without those guys my qualification would not have happened.

So how do I feel. Well I am over the fcukin moon!!! I have now realised my last goal and dream in bodybuilding, to stand on the O stage in Vegas! My prep has already started and I have just returned today from seeing Mike and Leica and planning my training for the next 4 months. I am extrememly excited about working with them both again for Septembers show.

If anyone has any questions they would like to ask me about the show, prep, my plans etc, then fire away.

Thanks for the kind words, James.  It's competitors like you who made the show what it was.  You looked amazing and your result demonstrated this.  We really appreciate your support in our first year and all the best in the Professional Olympia in Autumn!

Thankyou James. I'll be honest mate when I first went into the Arena I was left speechless by what I saw. The venue for the show, expo, etc is absolutely perfect and allows you to grow each year without worrying about not having the space. I invisage an expo twice the size and an Amateur event with 200 athletes in it as well as more top American pro's once word filters back on the amazing venue and hospitality.
This show is gonna rival if not exceed most of the American pro shows even next year and that is an incredibly exciting prospect.
As always if there is anything I can do to help then I will, even if its just spreading the word on my travels around the UK and U.S.

Thankyou Sarah. We have a lot of hard work to put in between now and then if I want to make the changes I feel realistically I can make. Like I said with an excess of calories now, I'm in a good place to start growing!!

great posts James!  when i walked into the auditorium for the first time on friday night, it was empty, the lights were on, and it blew my mind just a little!

filled with people and with pros on stage, i cant imagine a place i would rather have been!  Have never had the chance to go to any american shows, so its great to hear that it compares favourably!  though i cant see how you could make it any better!

Looking forward to seeing your off season and performance at the Mr O

Thanks mate, it certainly was an arena to blow your mind. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I saw where I was gonna be standing a few hours later!!
I met with Mike and Leica Gelsei today and we have planned an attack for the off season already. I have also had a few sessions with Harold who now deals with my nutrition and he has also given me his own training principles to follow.
I am primarily concentrating on chest and back but also hams and quad sweep. Most of my improvements were made in the final 6-7 weeks once I hooked up with Mike so I know with the extra calories we can make some quite amazing gains. The training is based around a basic compound exercise but also bringing into play secondary isolation exercises with emphasis on squeezing using giant and supersets.
They have reallt taught me to get my mind in those more stubborn muscle groups and the results spoke for themselves!

I weighed in at around 196lbs the night before but the following morning I was around 192-3lbs and by the sunday I stepped on stage at around 189-90lbs so I have a lot of room for growing in this class yet and thats the exciting thing. Funny thing was everyone said I looked fuller on the sunday but it was purely an illusion I created with the extra dryness I displayed.

My goal is a solid 215-220lbs this off season, around 7lbs more than I have ever been up to before.
