The Internet

Would you just like to take a step back and have a look at what we have created? I for one cannot imagine my quality of life would be so good without the internet.

pretty amazing thing when you think of it.

It is extremely unreliable as to the quality of information it gives out.

This is true pete though when you think of the quantity you can usually get a number of sources then make your own mind up, also think of the many knowagable people you have access to and their opinions, you would not have this without the net.

TT i can see what you are saying i dont watch any TV now any spare time i have is spent on the net. just getting infromation. i log on in the morning and dont turn off untill i go to bed.

Very true, but it is poor on facts. Try looking up the hreight of everest or the length of the M4 and you will get about six different answers, and you only ever wanted one, the right one.

Regarding the information thing it can be a bit hit and miss if you are looking at random sites. But in time you build up a rapport of sites you can trust. Obviously at times you will need to go beyond these but its a helluva lot easier than looking through a library. And you can be as noisy as you like!

The last time I went to the library in my underpants singing rhinestone cowboy didn't go down well at all.

Also how long has everyone been using the net? I was the first person in out school to get it. Probably about 10 years ago when it was limited. but saying that you didn't get half as much spyware and viruses as you do nowadays.

been using it since 98 when I lived at home.

I used a lot of silly games sites back then where you played against others on the net.

One day I really p1ssed this person off and they started spouting stuff like "you newbies to the web really annoy me, I've been using the web since it first began blah blah blah"

I gave them some more sh1t and they then said "goodbye" and my mum's pc got kicked out of the internet, screen went blank and then came back on, on the windows start up screen LOL

I was well freaked out LMAO, I put this down to a massive coinsidence...surely that's not possible, is it?

Its full of opinion's ,peolpe ask for someones viewpoint, then everyone bangs on about how they are wrong anf the other is right etc
    IMO this ruins the net,
Its fine in balance and if you dont take anything anyone says as truth, remain objective and use it as a tool,if someone disagrees with you or starts, just dont bother reading, why waste the energy

Until we get the net policed enjoy the freedom

Its an impressive entity but will have to change considerably in the next 20 years to stay operational.
Its under huge attack, especially from countries such as Russia and China.
I work for an anti-virus company, some of the things you hear are quite scary and not unlike a sci-fi novel.

Its estimated that email will be near useless in 10years time due to the exponential growth of spam.

Russia became the first country 2months ago to launch a cyber war on another country (Estonia) with widescale hacking and vandalisation of Government websites etc.
It was featured in one of the British newspapers, can't recall which however.
