The best way for me to cut.

Ok I'm currently on my last bulking cycle before summer. Before summer, I will have 12 weeks to loose about 10lbs of bodyfat. I will be using ECA on days that I do HITT (1 tablet at 7am, 1 at 12pm, and one at 4pm). My weights routine will be a basic 5x5 or 3x3 routine, so that's 3 days a week. I intend to do HITT maybe twice a week in the morning, and twice a week in the evening. Do you think that will effect my goal?

Something like...

Monday
workout

Tuesday
20mins HITT in the morning
1.5hrs cardio evening (soccer practice)

Wensday
workout
20mins HITT in the evening

Thursday
20mins HITT in the morning

Friday
workout

I'm not a calorie counter... Nor do I count carbs. My diet will most likely not be perfect, but I will try and keep my calories low and my carbs average. Basically I will divide what I eat in half. The question is what kind of HITT?

Should i do skipping? Sprinting?

I guess I can just do a different one each time... So for sprinting it's walk 30seconds and then sprint 30 seconds. For skipping maybe skip 2 minutes then rest 20 seconds. Would that be the best way to do it? Thanks.

    Hi Mate,
    Sounds like that is achievable.
On HIIT forms, depends what you enjoy doing. If its running then sprints are best. Just build up teh sprints and length of time you do HIIT. Start with something like 7 minutes and build up 1 minute or 30 secs each time...

I prefer swimming as it works for me and I enjoy it.

    Never tried skidding HIIT...sounds tiring!!

You could also try a training bike.

So for sprinting... 30 sec sprint, 30 sec light jog (rinse and repeat).

Week one maybe 8 minutes and increase 2 minutes every week you say? Is that as effective as just starting on 20 and staying at 20? Because I can most likely do 20.

Unless you are very fit, you won't manage that, it nearly kiils me to do a few times of 30 sec sprint, walk back to start (more than 30 secs.)

HIIT definitley more effective than a boring jog...if you are good stamina wise you might just start with 8 mins...when I first did it I only managed 5 mins if that!! Try it out and see how loing it takes for you to get completely knackered. I was using the old sprint/walk technique around a track...so 100m sprint, walk around teh bends rinse and reeat;)

genon, HIIT is not 30sec sprint 30sec jog and repeat.

HIIT is about going all out [100 MHR] for as long as possible, then go at a lighter intensity until you can sustain that DURATION OF TIME at your MHR again.

bear in mind that although on the second, third etc etc phases of MHR the actual speed you run/sprint/swimm/whatever will be a lot slower than the previous time. speed does not matter, its duration at MHr tht you want. and i'm not suggesting anything here, if you play american footy you will be quite fit anyway i presume, but GA is right, to have an effective workout using HIIT [20mins ish] you will hae severe difficulty in resting for 30seconds in between sprints.

if i were you i would go for something like this:

MHR 30sec [say sprinting 200m up hill]
    40-55%MHR for 1-2min [walking/v.light jog back down]

repeat for 20min even if by the end of it you MHR[sprint speed] is reuced to a crawling pace. you can either decrease the rest periods bit by bit, or, as i prefer, up the MHR periods as and when you feel you need to so that by the endyou are going flat out for 1+minutes and resting for 2min.
