The worst things about being Teetotal

You can't cut out your alcohol intake to save money or lose weight.

Oh and you have no excuse for your actions!

i havent had any alcohol since the 3rd of January and for me, there have been zero downsides, just positives! I dont miss it though or crave it in any way, wasnt a big drinker anyway but would have some on a fri sat maybe sunday.

I feel better all the time: more positive, more energy, more motivation for doing stuff.

Training has benefited hugely: diet spot on, no lazy choices, no forgetting to prep food. more energy in the gym, better training sessions.

best thing for me, I am putting on more muscle and my lifts in the gym are going up weekly, I look better too.

The worst thing is definitely the relentless 'no' that you have to give to drinking mates who can't comprehend that somebody wouldn't want a drink.

I used to drink everyday and now find that waking up feeling brighter is so nice. If I have a drink now, I find that's it's not all that it's cracked up to be and one or two usually leave me satisfied. Can't say there's anything 'worse' about it!!

I've been teetotal for about a year, so the benefits just feel like normal life now!

Nothing for me.  I have the odd beer and the burnt stomach feeling reminds me why I don't!

I've never been a huge drinker, don't know why just haven't.  Every now and then I do really enjoy one or two beers though..  until the next day when I feel guilty as hell...

My mates have got used to it now, so that's not even a problem anymore.

As I'm in a relationship it's not a problem at all, if however I was single and going out more I think there would be more pressure to drink whilst socialising.

Can't really think of a negative, one of the best things I did was give up alcohol.

Giving up binge drinking was the best thing I did, no more losing weekends due to hangovers or feeling guilty because I think I've done something terrible, however I still like a few beers socially.

Been teetotal for about 8 years now.

Dont even really remember alcohol tbh lol. Have got so used to just buying a diet coke or soft drink in a bar or club as part of the norm now.

I actually couldnt imagine myself drinking alcohol at all now if out in bars or clubs.

Perhaps on a very special occassion, when i achieve something special then i can relax and have a few cold beers in a bar with some friends. Would be quite a nice experience. But that is quite a long way off anyway i would imagine.

It feels nice to be completely in control of yourself.

Ditto on the control bit Brit.  I hate seeing people totally out of it and doing stupid things, and all of a sudden realising that used to be me.

PS, good to see you back on here too

I have been tee total for just over 2 years now, this comment reminds me of my weekend out my my friends and a couple of their GF's and few of their friends. Now never met these girls before and I am introduced to them as the guy who doesn't drink (This doesn't really bother me although I do not see the need to do it) but everyone of them gave me a look of disgust and two of them asked whats wrong with me?

My question is why is there a mentality to get so drunk that they don't even know how they got home. The question should be whats wrong with you. Everyone is entitled to a good time but I like to remain in control. Also helps when I am at the casino ha

A feel great since I stopped and like Brit says one day I probably will have a beer again but for now I am happy.

I have been tee total all my life.

I tried alcohol when i was a kid (14 ish i suppose) but i never liked the taste.

Alcohol also caused some issues with close family members so i guess i may have some deep set issues with alcohol.

Anyhow, the negatives are acquaintances thinking you are strange.

Putting up with pi$$ed peoples antics at parties, social gatherings etc.

Drunk people who know your a tee totaller trying to spike your soft drink "for a laugh"

I find that almost everyone asks what is wrong with me if i say i dont drink, not just women, however it does mostly seem to be women. I'm in a relationship at the moment so it's fine and she seems to accept it and i will have the odd drink every now and again (usually months apart though), but if i was single i think i would find things much harder.

I don't go out that often anymore, but when I do, being surrounded by drunken idiots is pretty annoying. You realise how stupid people actually are when they are completely off their heads, and like has also been said I'm glad that is not me anymore!

I don't go out much either Jcal I also get asked the question of my mates why don't you whats wrong with you. Feel like screaming in their face just because I dont enjoy going out doesn't mean to say there's something wrong.

But it has opened my eyes to just how bad this nations drink problem is and how bad it will be when they are 40 and their liver is failing them.
