ThermoLife Pump-Bol - Citrus Rush

ThermoLife Pump-Bol - Citrus Rush

Smell – When I first opened the tub and peeled back the protective white sheet, the smell hit me quite hard.  I’m not going to lie, it is not a pleasant smell, not massively potent, but you certainly wouldn’t want to smell it by choice.

Mixability – I placed the powder in my shaker cup first and then added the water afterwards, shook a few times and all the powder was mixed in with no problems, really mixes very easily.  The powder must be quite strong as it leaves a yellow/green stain on the inside of the shaker cup once mixed and consumed, nothing major as it can be wiped off very easily with a piece of tissue/cloth, etc.

I will say that, as you can see form the picture, the colour of this powder once mixed with water left a lot to be desired.  With a combination between the initial smell and then the sight once mixed, I have to admit I was quite apprehensive on how this product was going to taste………….

Taste – I used one scoop (around 11grams) for my first experience with this product and I added around 350-400ml of water.  I wasn’t really sure what I was expecting from the taste, but I was very impressed with the taste of this product, it was more of a tangy orangey taste with the added hints of both lemon and lime.  The best thing about this drink in regards to taste was that it didn’t carry a bitter or unpleasant aftertaste which can be found with a lot of ‘citrus’ flavours.  As somebody mentioned previously, it does have a taste of the ‘Tangfastic haribo’ sweets about it which is nice (well if you like those sweets).

Focus/Energy – I found that with one scoop, I did feel a little bit more focused on what I was doing, however, I didn’t really feel any added ‘energy’ for the workout, I feel this may be do to the absence of caffeine from this product.  So on the energy front with one scoop, I would say nothing much to report, but I definitely felt more focus, which was good and aided me to complete my workout 5 minutes or so quicker than I normally would.

Pump – Now this is where the name really stands up, as I definitely felt an increase in ‘pump’ whilst I was working out, I was training Biceps & Triceps this time around and I could feel the blood pumping through my veins and I definitely looked more vascular than normal.  Another tell tale sign of this pump was that my iPod strap that I wear around my arm felt tighter.

Overall – Now, given that this was the first time using this product and I used the smallest dose recommended, I would say as an overall product, this has been a very good experience.  Nice taste, simple to mix, good focus and great pump (although nothing like the ‘8 hours’ claimed on the tub, lol).  I would say the only thing missing is the energy kick which is found from most Pre-Workout supplement, but again this could be rectified with some caffeine tablets if that is what you want.  If your looking for a ‘caffeine-free’ Pre-WO then I would definitely recommend this product.

I will continue to give my feedback through the entirety of this product and I will play around and try different things, like increased dosage, length of time before my workout that I take it, routine, taken on an empty stomach or after a meal, etc.

I hope this may be helpful to some of you and if you have any specific questions or requests to be tried with this product then please feel free to ask/request away.

Nick

    Second experience

I used this product again today for a back and shoulders workout.  This time I upped the dosage to 2 scoops in around 700ml of water.
I had eaten about 1 hour prior to using the product on this occassion.

Taste - The taste is definately growing on me even more.  I enjoyed it the first time that I used it and mixing two scoops with around 700ml of water its is very refreshing.

Pump - After using one scoop of this product I was impressed with the 'Pump' I received and was very optimistic about the pump from 2 scoops!.............I was certainly not disappointed as the Pump was fantastic, I could really feel my back pulsating as I was working through my exercises.  I could feel and se the difference that it had on my vascularity.

Energy/Focus - Now, as already mentioned the focus/energy I received from the first experience with this was not too noticeable, so I wasnt really expecting too much.  I think it is definatley the lack of caffeine from this product which loses the energy/focus aspect but that definately doesn't mean its not a good product and with two scoops I have to say that there wasnt really any noticeable difference in the focus/energy department.

Overall - I thoroughly enjoyed using this product again and felt the pumps were brilliant and the taste is very good, not too sweet and no bitter aftertaste.  Using 700ml of water was a little bit of a downside as it sat a little heavy on my stomach in the intial parts of my workout, but it subsided relatively quickly and all was well.

As a pre workout product they normally only say 200ml per scoop. Did you find the more water you added the less you noticed from the formula mate ?

think i need more water - enjoy the taste but 2 scoops in 200ml is STRONG.

Hi Steve - I agree with @Kaldog, I think the volume of water used wont make too much difference to the impact that it would have as the ingredients would remain unchanged.............and honestly I don't think I could use the product with one scoop to 200ml of water as it would be VERY STRONG, I mean this stuff is strong when one scoop is mixed with 400+ml of water, it is nice though
