That 172.5 is very respectable enough mate. It will get better with consistency. Im mentally strongest on squats - there not a shred of doubt im going to lift it back up once ive unracked a weight or hit my target reps. Just need that now for bench/deads! Mental game is half the battle.

Make me stronger!

JayBoy - Thats a strong mental attitude towards squats, I am usually filled with dread before them!

Good session today form was nice and tight on squats just a little disappointed I didn't make the complete 5 x 5.

Do you ever try push press? Nice variation to the strict press and allows you to get a few more kg above your head.

Very very rarley, I have always done strict press because I have always used it to target my shoulders primarily and I feel the "push" maybe takes away from that a bit. But then you can counter argue that with saying it gets that extra few kg above! Swings and rounadabouts.

I think I will bring push press in as an actual movement probably once a week if I ever get round to entering a strongman comp!

I much prefer strict as well. Its just good to add in a variation every so often, I prob only do push press once a month. It does have some carry over so still beneficial.

Solid graft bud. Regarding push press...its a great movement but won't build strict...strict however will build push. The only thing to really bring up overhead is volume and working the weaknesses in the movement separately...it is however slow to build.

Squats (meant to be a heavy max set)
172.5kg x 1 (clear here that its not happening today)
172.5kg x 1
172.5kg x 1
172.5kg x 1
172.5kg x 1

Not quite sure of the effectivness of just doing singles. My 5rm 10 days ago was 170kg. Will need a re think here.

Back off set
160kg x 2 (garbage)
150kg x 3 (aimed low and acheived)

Really not happy with squats at the moment.

Pendaly row
95kg x 8
95kg x 8
95kg x 10
95kg x 6 (back off set)
Happy with these atm, will keep these instead of cleans while wrist is still bollocksed

Bench (3 x 3, thanks ox)
120kg x 3
120kg x 3
120kg x 3

Dips
35kg x 10
35kg x 10
35kg x 10
35kg x 6

Tricep pushdowns

3.11 mile/5km run

Squat
160kg x 5
160kg x 5
160kg x 4 (sigh)
160kg x 3 (felt hard)
160kg x 3 (easier than the last set)
160kg x 3 (bonus set for being a tit again)

Still having a real mental struggle with squats at the moment.

Deadlift
Warmup
192.5kg x 5 (these felt nice and controlled)
140kg x 5 (speed set)

Bench
115kg x 5 (heavy)
115kg x 3
115kg x 3
115kg x 3
115kg x 3
100kg x 8 (bro pump)

Dips (again upped weight, cruised for too long on these)
40kg x 10
40kg x 10
40kg x 8
40kg x 6

Tricep pushdowns

5km run

Homer Jay - Much easier to write your name without the numbers! Yeah I will play around with push press in the future probably on an odds and sods day.

JayBoy - Yeah I may reset my strict press and start from scratch

Brett - Thanks for checking in.

Ox - Yeah as you say OHP needs the volume to build which is probably why I fail quite hard on it as I have only ever really treated it as an accessory movement.

In terms of struggling with the squats I always feel quite tight at the beginning so do need to pay more attention to warming up properly. But ny major downfall is probably mental failure, saying Ive had enough when I haven't which I think comes down to people watching you fail a squat in the gym. It shouldn't bother me but it does.

No problem lol. Its a name I used on some forums back in the day, but Homer Jay was already taken on one so I had to insert numbers, and I've stuck with it since.
