To any UTorr client users.

I realise theirs a filter for a reason, but the popular Toro client uTorr..e.nt
Would recommend to uninstall now, they have silently installed a piece of software called EpicScale.

EpicScale is a bitcoin miner that also purports to use your "unused processing power to change the world". It's easily noticeable by the increased CPU load when the computer is idle.

(It is possible to uninstall EpicScale through the control panel, but that does not properly remove the files from ProgramData\EpicScale.)

afaik, it is only bundled in the latest release and even then can be opted out. It's not totally clear how to opt out as there is no tick box but there are buttons to Agree or Decline epicscale, although sneakily the Agree is much more prominantly coloured.

It is slightly underhand, but then anyone who acts like a robot clicking Agree....Agree....Agree.....Agree to every new box that appears during any installation needs professional help tbh.

Isn't it crazy? Pretty much every time anyone tells me they've got a problem with their PC, I'll open the web browser and the third party search bar and stupid smiley face toolbars will be about 12 deep!   Some people really are too thick to own a computer!

No, Not that Dr Z.  Please don't bother PM'ing me for 'Price Lists'  You have the wrong guy.

lmao

Most of the time they are oblivious to the fact that they have gradually lost a third of their browser screen real estate.

Their is no agree, that's the point, it's a stealth install.
Reddit has them leaving, and now google chrome has listed out as a malware programme.

I dont understand what to do above PartyBoy. Any chance you can elaborate further please?

I wonder if this is affecting me because Im getting a lot of problems just now with browsers not working despite internet access not being the problem.  Tried 4 or 5 fixes I found online but nothing works for longer than a day.

Also started getting the same adds appearing very regularly for couple websites I use quite often.

If it is this that you've got, then my advice would be:

Uninstall anything that you don't think should be there in Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a program (in Wind 7). Obviously uninstall epic scale.
Uninstall u t o r r e n t
Look in your C/Program Files & C/Program Files (x86) & delete files that correspond to any programs you have just removed in Control Panel as some programs will leave files behind when they are uninstalled

Do the same for programs listed in C/Program Data    - (this folder is hidden by default...Make it visible by clicking start & typing 'folder options' in the search field. Open the folder options & click the 'view' tab, scroll down & check the option for ' show hidden files & folders'

Re-download u t o r r e n t from www.download.com

Perform a full virus scan with your anti virus
Perform a full malware scan using malwarebytes anti-malware - free from www.download.com

Install u t o r r e n t that you have re downloaded.
BE  VERY CAREFUL  what you click AGREE to during the various pages during the installation as shown in the above trustedreviews link

After re-installation of u t o r r e n t you can edit the settings to get rid of the fcuking annoying ads that flash away constantly. Instructions here:

http://forum.u****.com/to...-upgrade-banner/page-3

^^^^ manually type the correct address in your address bar after clicking the link
