Today my physio explained why traps grow bigger on cycle...

...and it's not your usual run of the mill explanation!

Essentially, most people, especially lifters have over dominant traps through postural imbalances caused by extreme kyphosis or lordosis of the spine...given a bit of internal rotation of the shoulders, and you have dysfunctional shoulders that shift the load on to the traps.

Anabolic environment + postural dominance = more trap hypertrophy.

lol too many big words there for me, so basically lifting heavy weights with your shoulders all the time makes your body use your traps more for everyday excercises that your shoulders would usually be doing on there own?

yes it is the postpubertal exostential motifs that exasherbate the bilateral postionioning of my trapzius dorsi unto itself that helps the permutations of my lactation!

What I dont understand is why I hadnt considered this before? How utterly GASLY....
I dunno bout you but I could do with a SPOT OF TEA after consuming all this vast information....

Yep that is certainly one possible explanation Knighty

Also, and perhaps more relevantly, androgen receptor density tends to be greater in the trapezius muscles than in muscles lower down in the body. Obviously this will have an effect on the response to steroids. Steroids work primarily through the AR, more AR means more response to steroids

He might have been joking around but did he realise how inappropriate his comment was? Frankly, taking tea at that time of the day, *shudder*, surely he must have realised that it was more of a dry sherry moment. He'll not live that faux pas down in a hurry.

Ive noticed that too as a tell tale sign that someone is on a cycle there traps really grow but it could be untrue too as the people whos traps dont grow you wouldnt know, the traps also tend to go back to a normal size after.

My traps dont do it though!!

A friend of mine had a book on steroid and bodydismorphia that he used during is disatation at uni, the explanation in there was that when on AAS you become more masulinated and this is usually shown as bigger shoulders and traps. Peosonally i'm not to sure as peope train both to make them bigger anyway
