Torn Distal Bicep Tendon

Hi guys.  Just looking for info and advice and some first hand experiences.  I'm 41, with about 23 years lifting experience.  Was doing some DIY at home when I heard a loud tear and felt a sharp pain in my left bicep.  A visit to A&E confirmed I had completely severed the left distal bicep tendon.  A couple of days later I saw a surgeon and was presented with two options.  Either leave it completely alone, wait for the pain to subside and go about my life with slightly reduced function, or get it surgically repaired, suffer a ruck load of inconvenience now, and hope for a better long term outcome.  I opted for surgery and have now been in a full arm cast for a week.  I cannot possibly begin to describe how horrible it has felt.  I can deal with the pain and the injury no problem but being immobilised in this massive cast is really taking it's toll on me.  I can't describe how suffocating and claustrophobic it feels.  Anyway, I'd like to hear from people who've had a similar thing and to convince me fixing it was the right thing to do as I'm really questioning myself.  C'mon, cheer me up lol.

Welcome and sorry you've had no replied
I have known a number of bodybuilders who's been in the same situation as you and you've done the right thing.  Short term grief, for a better long term outcome.  Keep us posted on your progress back to full strength.
