Training with Team quest

Hi Guy's I know there are a few of you here that are into MMA, I will be training at Team Quest with Randy Couture and Matt Lindland at the end of this month for two months.

I'll be taking a digital camera and will try to do a weekly update on here, telling you what the trainings like and what I'm up to.

More in three weeks.

    Colenj2,

Your one lucky person. Im very big into MMA and would die for the chance to train with Team Quest or any other fighting team. Im really looking forward to the pictures, workouts, and info on this. Im sure you'll have a great time.

I mean who can dislike Randy Couture? But i have to tell you I'm 110% behind Tito

Hi, this will be the second time I have been over to the U.S to train, last year I trained with Chris Brennan and had a great time and was made very welcome, I would say if you ever get the chance do it you will have a good time.

My moneys on Randy, well not literally as I now have none after paying for this trip

Couture win over Ortiz IMO..... TKO sounds about right.

You'll be able to tell us what shape he's in so we have "insider knowledge" lol.

Randy is just awful on his back and Mr Ortiz will definately put him there.

As for Randy.....can he be the first person in the UFC to ever put Ortiz on his back?

Hey if someone knows a bit about digital cameras can they pop me an email, I need some guidance on a few things.

    Nicholas.cole@bt.com

Hi Dano, I don't know who Randy trains with for his jujitsu, I think it might be one of the guys at Team quest I think it is Robert Follis, but he is far from awful on his back. However Tito may have the edge there like you say, I do think that he will win the wrestling tho.

Just spoke to Robert Follis the head instructor, I'll be having my first training session on Sunday the 28th when they have an open grappling session, will let you all know how that went as soon as I find an internet cafe to send the pics.

Good win for Randy..... I didn't see the fight though (was it on UK television?). I knew he would win.

Apparently Ortiz was up to his usual absurd post-fight nonsense, including crying and putting on an offensive T-shirt. Bit of an odd fellow isn't he!

Still I'm sure Ortiz will get his crown back at some point (when Randy retires for good). He is a good fighter and still youngish..... But "The Natural" Couture is the king!

Hi, well first of all I told you so

I got here last Saturday night after having an awful time at customs, they lost my bloody passport as I was coming through the security terminal (long story but I waited for five hours in chicago airport to get boarded on a new flight)

My first training session was Sunday morning which was an open grappling session, I went for a bit of a run before as I was so stiff from the flight, Evan Tanner was there and the intructor Greg Sovvan introduced me to everyone, had a nice light roll and then slept the rest of the day.

Tuesday was my first hard training session, it was Team practice with all the big names there Matt, Randy, Evan etc and we did ten three minute rounds of Vale Tudo with boxing gloves on, I was slammed by Matt Lindland and given a real beasting, wednesday we did pretty much the same.

Thursday and friday we did alot more technique and wrestling takedowns along with sprints and plyometrics.

I'm pretty tore up and it's only my first week! I've come into Portland this weekend with Greg the instructor to wind down a bit.

I will let you have more details next week along with pictures hopefully.

Sorry about the briefness I'm just a little limited on my time today.

Will have a lot more for you on my next post.

    Drab4,

In no way at all was Tito Ortiz disrespectful after the fight or did he put on an offensive shirt. He gave Randy all the credit he deserved. He put the belt around his waste for him and he was pointing at him while they were reading off the judges decisions. He was very respectful and took the loss very well. You must have just heard false info from the wrong person.

BTW much respect for Randy he fought a hell of a fight. Colenj sounds like you are having quite an experience being able to roll with randy, matt, and evan. Im jealous. Keep havin a good time.

Yep probably, like I said I didn't see the fight myself. Just spreading rumours LOL.

If he acted respectfully after the fight then good on him, that's a step in the right direction.

I just checked up on the net, and looks like Tito did cry after all LOL.

A mate of mine told me about the T-shirt, but I've not found anything to back that up..... Maybe he was pulling my leg! You have to admit though, that he wears those stupid shirts for most of his fights. Shirts calling his opponents bitches etc etc.

Anyway never mind, just a minor point really. I'm sure Tito will do well over the next few years, especially if he stays busy. I look forward to watching (if we're lucky and they ever show UFC again in the UK) his future fights.

Hey guys, this week Chael Sonnon has been training in team practice, he's the guy who fought at the recent IFC.

I've been working on my boxing alot with one of the team quest coaches called Greg Piper he is v slick and a v fast puncher and it is coming along ALOT.

Still no pictures I'm afraid I'm a little limited on my time with all the training but I promise to give you a full run down when I get back.

The Team training consists of full contact vale tudo with boxing gloves or light pucnhing to set up clinch work and takedowns if we are wearing 4oz gloves.

I've usually been doing Team practice for 1.5 hours a day and then a couple of extra lessons and some privates here and there (arround 3-4 hours a day), the rest of the day I've either been sleeping or eating.

Tito did cry which was pretty funny after all the smack talking he did before the fight.

Busted my neck up this week and seeing a chiropractor saturday to get it sorted out, so no wrestling for me, have been spending my time boxing at Team Quest and at a local pro boxing gym.

Have been using Randy's diet plan this week and have already noticed a difference in my energy levels, bit of a change to the huge amounts of protein and condensed carbs that I'm used to, if anyone wants to know about it let me know...colenj2@msn.com.

Evan Tanners been in training alot again this week getting ready for his fight with Phil Baroni and I was talking to him about cutting weight from 205 to 185, last fight he weighed in at around 195 he said so the weight cutting wont be a problem in fact he has added size since his last fight so expect him to be very strong in his fight against Baroni.

Weathers getting bloody cold here now and there's snow settling on the mountains so am off to do some snow boarding this weekend, see if I cant bang myself up a bit more :)
