Yes mate. Keith, plays America football for our town. He was buying me doubles all night. I thought he was being a good mate, the reason is crystal clear now.
Get billy drunk then take advantage.....

At least you don't wake up in a shopping trolley in an alleyway with no pants.

That's never happened to me lol.

Just a regular Wednesday night for you Brett

At least that would mean I was getting SOME action...

Managed to squeeze in a couple more sessions yesterday.

Swam 400m in 9 minutes. This was in a small pool with lots of turns and no pushing off from the wall each turn. With less turns and pushing off I think that time would be around 8 minutes.

Ran another 2.5 miles after. Had to take my 2 kids on their bikes so pace was slow as road safety came first. 10 minute miles.

Getting the work done.

No I get your jist about not kicking during the swim, makes sense now.

I remember from the swim I did you changed lanes after every 2 lengths so the judges could keep tally of your distance. So that involved ducking under the rope every now and again.

Makes sense, I was thinking how will the judges keep track of everyone.

My cousin who used to be very competitive and place at Triathlons is dusting himself off and is coming out of retirement to do this. That's now 2 mates and a cousin who are going to have front row views of my torture.

In other news I have ordered some Musclerage mk47 (mk677). I'm normally anti meds but I really do need some help getting through this training. 10mg a day will hopefully give me a little recovery boost. From all accounts 10mg of musclerage is very potent compared to other brands so I'm going to stick to that dosage.

I have to or I won't make it round!
I've tightened up the diet and am now eating what would have been maintenance calories. Due to the increase in cardio (I'm actually doing some!) it puts me in a deficit.
I would like to be close to 13st 7lb if I'm honest.
I dragged myself around a 10k at nearly 14st and it was hard. Everyone else looked about 10st.

Today was the first of 15 mini Tri's. Each weekend increaseing by 10% each week until full race distance.

160m swim
6 mile ride
1.2 mile run.

I'm not going to lie, I was in pieces by the end.

Planning on a longer gentle ride tomorrow.

I'm pretty lucky as my folks have an indoor pool. It's not the longest and if means plenty of turns but it's free and lets me get the work in. I will build up strength and use a longer pool nearer race day.

Very lucky with access to that pool! What’s it 15m?

But get a wet suit and get in the sea (do please film it!)

I really do think tho that your plan to not use your legs when swimming will backfire somehow?! You’ve got plenty of time and the gains and improvements are going to come thick and fast. If you’re going to do it, do it properly and use your legs!

Reminds me of high school when I played provincial waterpolo and was training for nationals... 5.30 am ‘fitness’ training. Our feet were tied together and we had to swim length upon length using just our arms alternating butterfly (with kicks) and front crawl with our head up and out the water with no legs. Im sure this is where I get my pressing strength from .. At the end, our feet were untied and we had to tread water with our elbows out for about half an hour. Just brutal.

It's 9m buddy. It embarrassing to say but apart from the odd splash around with the kids I haven't legit swam for a few years. I swam at county level from 6-12, in the pool 3 or 4 times a week and I just fell out of love with it.

sd1656 prompted me to look up whether using legs is optimal. I've decided I will use them to a certain degree without stressing them too much.
Like you say, I have the time to make the endurance improvements.

Out on the bike in a minute. Greased and oiled it yesterday.

Pool looks nice mate. Temp controlled? Wonder if the pool on the day will be?

I'd be trying to mimic the conditions as much as possible... then again I'm no expert lol. I know for a fact though if I didn't use legs when swimming my calves would cramp up.

Yeah it's all heated mate and the pool in the race is. I will switch to a bigger pool in a month or two when I've lost a bit of fat!
It's also saving me money as swimming 2 or 3 times a week isn't cheap. Home gym so not a member of gym with swimming facilities.

Legs will be used.

Sunday - Did a gentle 11 mile bike ride. Felt ok but pace was way down. At this early stage I'm just counting everything as miles in the bank and getting my body used to this again.

Monday - Push Gym session followed by 2.8 mile run.

MK677 arrived on Monday and I took the first Cap at 3pm. I've a history of poor sleep so didn't want to risk taking any later until I know how it reacts with me.
Planning on a swim tonight, possibly full race distance (600m).

600m swim in a 9m pool is 66.6 lengths. The number of the beast...

Lol,

Thanks for doing the maths big man. I will have to make sure I stop on 66.6 and don't complete 67. Don't want to overtrain!

That meme also forces me to say,

'this is not the best Tri in the world, this is just a tribute '

OMG your parents must be rich lol.

Good work here so far mate. You appear to be taking the right approach to it all. I bet this is why your mates like to trick you into these things, because they know you'll go through with it properly.
I get what you mean about the other competitors averaging around the 10stone mark, they may be fit but they look underweight, not a good look in my opinion. But then again, I like to lift weights, so I would say that lol.

I've always been the same mate, if I'm gonna do something I will give it my best otherwise I wouldn't bother starting.

It's funny because I've spent the last 6 months (since cut finished) meticulously gaining weight at such a slow rate to limit fat gain and now I'm probably going to pi55 goodbye to that hard work and more.

Im a bit worried because looking at last years results and the breakdown of times, most people are affiliated to triathlon clubs and teams. They are in for a shock when I turn up. Here's to Lowering the standard!

Tuesday

600m swim. Well actually it was 618m just in case I miscounted somewhere. Felt quite comfortable and I wasn't pushing too hard. 14min 30. I've looked at last years times for this Tri and that time is quite competitive. Shame my ride and run isn't......

Wednesday

Pull gym session followed by a 2.2 mile run. Just not feeling the run today. It's hard after weights but that's not really an excuse. Having 2 kids in tow on their bikes in the dark is a much better excuse!
Was going to run over 3 miles tonight but I wasn't going to flog a dead horse. Or feed a fed horse (wtf) as some want the expression changed to.

Today I took my 3rd dose of MK677. Nothing to report yet. I did have a cracking dream last night but that's not unusual for me. I will give it a week at 10mg then consider bumping to 20mg.

That's the only difference to my supplement regime. I'm always on the following

Whey Protein
Go Greens (vege replacement shake)
Omega 3 2000mg
Multi vit
Vit D (in winter)
Zinc
