**** me mate. You are so lucky. Glad you’re not too badly hurt.

Thanks bud. Just think of the fun I could be having kipping reps in a 'box' instead of head butting people's cars.

Do you think it will be an urge left unscatched once you’re all healed up or is that it for ebdurance stuff ?

Injury lawyers for you will buy you a nice new bicycle...

That's going to take a lot of soul searching. I will weigh up all variables and equate risk v reward I don't want to rush the decision.

Thought about it. Fook endurance.

You know there’s easier ways to get out of a bet mate!

Glad you are ok though bloody lucky. At least the training probably had you in a good limber state to get hit. Even more so for recovery.

Cycling on the road is so dangerous the cars just ain’t looking for you. What was the driver like?

The driver was a young 20 something. Civic Type R so proper boy racer car. Not castin aspirations though because I had plenty of hot hatches when I was younger.

He was a bit shaken but still had the wits about him to give a slightly favourable account of things to the cops. Luckily there were two witnesses so the police got a well rounded view.

He came to the ambulance to get my phone number as I was strapped onto the spinal board. No 'How are you ' messages and he told his insurance I didn't need medical attention lol.
Think he's in self preservation mode.

Bloody hell mate, thank god you're 'ok' - One of the reasons I'd never ride a bike on the roads.

This did make me chuckle tho.

On the plus side, mates have had a vote and decided 6 to 4 that I don't have to do the Tri!

Yep, got some good mates lol. They are already looking at alternatives.

Sympathy messages include 'can I have what's left of your bike for spares '
'One less cyclist to worry about on the road'
'Glad you didn't die, you still owe me £20'
And 'that's what you get for dressing up as a Power Ranger on weekends'.

I'm being sent back for a few more X-rays tomorrow as the doc isn't happy

Right hand and wrist
Right shoulder
Right knee

Left index finger and redo the left thumb that we know is broken.

Fun times.

Brilliant! I've been walking around with a broken wrist for a few days that the first hospital failed to pick up.
Now sat in A&E with a 3 hour wait to see if I need a cast or operation. Great week this has been so far.

I love the fact that 4 of your mates voted against you being able to back out of the bet, proper lads lol.

Home gym looks bang on, hope you get well soon so you can put it to good use.

Thanks guys. The Gif cheered me up no end Flop.

Home now. Wrist broken in two places (2 separate bones). Full car on so won't be driving for weeks and no weights either.

Still not unpacked from house move and now to far away to walk to work.

Still I'm alive so I'm not complaining, much.

I remember seeing the fecker turn when I was about a second away and shouting 'fooook'. I remember hitting him and then landing. I don't remember my head hitting the windscreen or being somersaulted through the air.

I'm not religious but I've had a few things in life since a particular low point where I felt something was helping me out, I suppose similar to the guardian angel theory.
It's probably because I was concussed but even the landing felt soft and pain free.

Your mates sound like a right laugh lol.

Not too good bud. I'm normally a fairly positive person but I still only have use of 3 fingers which is making life s4it. A combination of breaks and extensive ligament damage will require time and physio.

Having to get your kids to unbutton your trousers and put toothpaste on the brush etc is pretty depressing.
Went out for my birthday with the fam, the Mrs had to cut my food up in the restaurant. Had a few beers later with friends drinking through a straw. Fun times!

Had more X-rays and my cast replaced for the double wrist break and need to wait 3 weeks to see if it needs an OP.

Police have reinterviewed the driver and he as expected has admitted 100% liability.
As a reward the police are going to send him on a driver awareness course for a few hours.....

I can't believe he is not being charged with undue care and attention, no points or fine just a few hours in the classroom.
Police obviously happy to save their time and budget. Cyclists die every year in the New Forest where I was driven straight into and I was lucky to escape with 2 mangled hands and bruises over 90% of my body.
An awareness course is not a deterrent.

The driver must be celebrating tonight!

That is a sh1t result mate I’m sorry.

Silver lining is now that he has admitted culpability it should be easier/faster to get some form of compensation. Do you have a public scheme like we do? Vehicle licence pays for the insurance? Won’t fix it but will make life a little easier mate.

I would also see a psych too -there is no telling the psychological damages you have sustained. A letter from a psych can also make a big difference when it does come time to claim some cash.

Hope things get better soon though bud.

Damn, Sorry to hear you're still suffering mate, and a kick in the bollox from the Police as well. Get on that compensation bus mate, get every penny you can.
