Tricep Exercise

Well thsi is what I wrote last week:

Right, today I started properly on my routine and started a journal(not an online one yet). I was working my chest and tris today. Basically, I did my chest exercises and then I did Cable pushdowns for triceps. My last exercise was skull crushers. I came to do em, so I used a low weight. It was too hard to keep form with that so I figured the weight was too heavy plus I asked advice of a fellow gym member. I went to look for a lower weight and that was the lowest weight they had on the Barbells. Usually there is lower at other gyms, but they didnt have any at mine. SO I didnt know what to do. I was thinking of doing skull crushers with dumbells(tricep extension) - working each arm separately. Would that suffice? If not what should I do instead that is as effective? Cheers in advance!

Now it was recommended that I do the skull crushers first and then the cable pushdowns. I tried and again it was impossible to keep form and do them! So im stuck what shall I do now? Im finding that the wekness of my triceps is hindering progress on my chest. My chest wants to go heavier but my triceps cant handle it. Thanks in advance! Ps. Sorry about the length of the post.

Close grip bench press instead, or dips perhaps - 2 quality mass builders (skulls would be a 3rd)
