UKSC Englands Strongest Man

Don't know a lot atm but i can tell you that Jimmy Marko......something who came 4th at the Greater London quals, won and my pal Mr Kirby came 6th ,missing out on UKs qualification by 0.5 a point but has been told by Bob that he will more than likely go to Ireland as the reserve.
Steve Brooks had to pull out with suspected heat exaustion as he was puking big style and generally unwell.
Hope Russ or anyone can tell us more.

That's all correct - I can't really remember any more specifics but I do have some photos of the event that I'll be uploading tomorrow night.

Good day out though there was a general concensus that it was very PLing orientated in terms of the events.

That Jimmy guy is an absolute monster! His sheer strength is quite staggering - he had never even done stones before the event but still did very well on them considering.

Jimmy Marko is a beast. He made the squat look like a joke after others had failed to get a rep. I think he did 11-12 reps but was only given 9 and from a spectators point of view, his reps were very deep. I believe it was his first go on the stones and he did pretty well there too.

I felt for the competitors, it was brutally hot and the event was very fast paced, can't have been easy (it was hard enough watching!)

Russ did well, looked solid all round and managed a rep or two on the squat after others had missed.

    On the competition:

I was disappointed to see both a back to back tug of war and a truck pull in a 6 event competition, and no event for grip surprised me (straps were used on the deadlift and there was no farmers or anything). Personally, I think in a 5-6 event comp there is no place for a squat and deadlift either, one is great but im not sure you need two.

Overall though it was a great day out, weather was stunning and there was quite a big crowd. It was good to meet Big Tom and JP too, hope you had a good day fellas!

Jimmy actually did stones at the Greater London quals mate but yeah he's a monster.Did'nt seem to have a lot of technique at the quals but makes up for it with awesome strength.

Watching him do the stones was pretty interesting, he struggled more with the 100kg starter than the next 4, in fact his technique seemed to evolve as the stones got heavier.

    The bloke's calves are immense.

Damn i felt small in that crowd!

I heard Jimmy hadn't really tried stones before. He has loads of potential to go far with some event training.

CF, the squat was allegedly 280kg, but it was an axle squat high bar position - i would actually doubt if it was 280kg, but heavy and awkward nevertheless!

    couple pics of Jimmy:
