Use of Steroids to Help heal an injury

Hi All,

I've had a series of bad luck and over the last year acquire tendinosus in my bicep and after much rest and physio got back in the gym and now damaged my shoulder rotator cuff in the same arm!

I've been doing some research on the use of steroids and HGH to aid injuries, but there seems to be as much information out there to argue both ways as to whether it does/does not help.

Does anyone have any experience on this? I'm keen to resume normal life again and be back in the gym so am comtemplating the use of HGH therapy to help with my injury.

Many Thanks!

I have gone over this one before as i have a slipped disk  in my back and have started Sis /Deca with the hope of the extra water held will help me recover, this is no 100% repair guarantee ,but any thing i can do to help me get better i will.

I would love to run GH in the time i have had off work is 8 weeks now ,but have been runnung G6 will before i did my back ,so untill the next MRI its hard to tell how thing are going.
I do  think its the body the does the work so all you can do is give it the things it needs ; rest/diet/exisize.
Meds are a small steping stone on the road to being 100% again.

    Good luck Daz

No experience of it personally but i have read that HGH can help you heal / recover.

I wouldnt say the same about steroids as your muscles become bigger / stronger but you connective tissue would be lagging which could result in further injury in your case.

Not sure about the second point so someone please correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks Guys, There's much talk about IGF-1 and GHRP-6 in aiding connective tissue and tendon recovery etc, but unfortunately not much research around these.

I've been resting the shoulder now for about 4 weeks, with absolutely no upper body training. Training legs twice a week now.

If you are going to yry it i would use GHRP6 as it cheap not like HGH so if it does not help you wont of waisted a sh1t load of cash,i am not an expert on this but thats just my oppinion.Good luck to you and recovery anyway.

I have heard a lot of people recommending deca for joint pain/injuries. Never heard many people saying hgh has benefited them, then again I only know 2 people on it. lol

Not an expert but i keep hearing lately that decca only increases water retention so can make an injury feel less sevier but does nothing for recovery,HGH is supposed to help (again hearsay) not sure how beneficial it actualy is.I have never tried it and will nwver bother with HGH as imo its over priced and does not give worthy results;each to thier own though.

I don't think they would help you. I had golf's elbow over a year ago and it was caused by lifting to much on a cycle so it could make things worse. People do have problems with joints on cycles. Myself was just lifting far to much weight and it cost me 6 months out with rest and no gym. Steroids is not the answer to help you heal dude. My best advise is see other types of help and leave the meds alone until you are nearly 100% like i was.

Some real research needs to be done on med use and recovery , i will be having another MRI scan in time but there is nothing to say any meds helped or just aided the natural healing process .

Golfer's elbow is medial epicondylitis, basically just inflammation of a portion of one of the bones forming the elbow joint. Not sure if it would form a lump the size of a golf ball

Just an update, looks like meds won't actually help with what I have done...
Post MRI scan reveals that "due to repetitive weight lifting" I've managed to compress my shoulder bone and this has caused the narrowing of the gap between the bone and the tendon which is causing the aggrevation and pain.

Solution: Surgery to shave away part of the bone. 2 weeks no activity, followed by 10 weeks physio.

Worth seeing a chiropractor or Osteopathe before taking the plunge?

mate i've just recently injured my pec. its a mild tear and lucky the pec did not rupture. the only advice i would give you is get yourself to your nearest osteopath and begin rehab properly. Also get to your doctor and you can get physio. this is what i have done and i am recovering well. training through an injury is no good at all. pain is a signal to tell you something is wrong. knowledge is power. injecting growth gives you no knowledge of your injury whereas medical advice is free and invaluable
