Valentines Day

What are your plans if you have an 'other half'?

What are your plane if you don't? Does it depress you if you don't have a significant other to share the day with? It is purely a creation of the commercial sector to get us to spend money at a time when nobody is spending at all due to Christmas having just passed BTW.

I've been seeing a girl for three months and have told her i 'don't do valentines' because its all a con. Its actually one of my mates 30th bday 2 days before so i'm going out with him and some other mates instead...

I agree its just a commercial thing. if you love someone why do you need a special day to show it?

every year for the last 12 yers, me and the mrs have got each other a card and we've just got chippy in the evening. it started because when we first started seeing each other, we were both 15, so couldn't afford to go for a meal and it stuck even after we both got jobs.

It's my nana's birthday aswell, so we spend some time down there aswell during the day

I hate any day that's really just there to empty your pockets, easter I particularly don't like.

I really dislike mothers and fathers day, my parents get told until there is a sons and daughters day I refuse point blank to buy presents for them out of principal.

I should start a petition sons and daughters day, I'm sick of it.

Christmas and birthdays is what empties my pockets, my wife's birthday is on valentines day do that's a double hit that month

My wife hates flowers she says they stink, I don't like the smell either. They look pretty and die it's all a con, I recommend you buy the Mrs a cactus for valentines day.

Card only, maybe something small as a present around £5 or £10, but nothing major. Both of us make it clear we don't like Valentines Day as it is a rip off and a commercial con, and spending £40+ on flowers, £100+ on a meal out full of other couples, taxis around, other gifts etc - just not for me. We usually go somewhere for a weekend a few weeks later.

My nan once gave me a sheet of A4 paper with "Happy Christmas" and a quid taped to it with a "P.S. here's the money for a card"

I like her style, my auntie makes her own cards but it's more of a hobby.

They always have a set menu on valentines day and everywhere is always fully booked, I don't know what's wrong with these people or maybe I'm just not romantic at all.

I took my wife away to Rome for our anniversary once as a surprise

Phil, the thought is all that counts. Materialistic showering with all things commercial has gotten out of hand. Family members showing their love with a kiss or a simple message means a whole lot more than any amount of money being flashed around.

Me and the mrs get each other a present, im having an action cam this year. The day is a load of **** though, i just use it as an excuse to get a present which is far more expensive than the stuff she wants lol

Never had a girlfriend, never celebrated Valentine's Day, don't see myself doing it this year either. I would probably be spending the night at the gym.
