Try and roll the log up mate instead of trying to power clean it. Squat down into it as much as possible, get it high on the chest and then as you stand up turn your elbows downwards so that the log rolls up to your shoulders.

Aye, the gerneral rule seems to be:

    thick log easier to clean
    thin log easier to press

Although you should try to roll it always as it reduces energy usage.

Yes, not a great log clean technique, but plenty of power!

Tony - how do your biceps (inc. tendons) feel after that?

BTW: congrats. on cute daughter! I don't give much thought to what others might think of my training etc., but I still glow when my daughter says that she was proud of one of my competition efforts (only tangentially strength-related, but hey - I'll take anything that I can get!)

Bit sore today, I think thats due to a 10 reps of cleans/curls from hang though.

Think my little girl was more puzzled than impressed with my strongman antics.

Cheers for all the tips guy. I did attempt the roll up style but struggled with it. Am I right in thinking this is easier if you posses a power belly?

It might help a little if you have a power belly!

bigscot is right, squat down and roll it up, rather than bicep curl/clean it up. You'd get alot more weight up that way.
