Video of my car crash last Wednesday..

I was in a smallish smash last Wednesday. Going through a small village, road narrows so a traffic calming measure was used. The chap should have yielded, but instead accelerated and ran out of talent. I was then tail-ended by a Ford Ka.

Took the recovery truck 2 hours to come and get me, thankfully it did. A chap came running down the road to me and asked if was involved in the accident. He'd filmed  the crash. Apparently his kids like to watch videos of where he's been. He was behind the car that hit me first. Apologising for not initially stopping, as he had to go get his kids, he showed me this:

Very lucky not to roll. Charged with careless driving. What are the odds of it not only being filmed, but being around to see it 2 hours later!

I fukcing hate those chicane things, they make good drivers drive better, and dickheads drive even more dickishly.
There's a road near my house where I regularly have to stop dead in the middle of the road, even though I have right of way, while a line of cars come straight towards me and swerve to the right at the last moment. I suppose some people are in so much of a rush a head-on collision is worth the risk?
I sometimes feel like proceeding at a reasonable rate of speed, and if they don't manage to make it back onto their own side of the road then fukc them.
If I was driving a cheap car, and was rich, I'd do it.
The "funny" thing is, before all these "traffic calming" measures were put in there wasn't a problem with accidents involving pedestrians. I think the last fatal one was in the early 80s. But since these "safety" measures have been installed there are minor car-on-car accidents every other week.
How the fukc is making  morons drive straight at each other on the same side of the road as fast as possible making anyone safer?
The political state, and nanny gone mad correctness, if you ask me.

As above the chicane things are pretty damn annoying.
Just out of interest is that in ditchling? I know lots of places like that look similar but just looks familiar?

Sounds like a serial killer to me, filming his victims when he kidnaps them.

Glad you're ok Rosco, could have been a lot worse.

    What a moron...

I too hate these 'measures' as they beyond retarded, lost count of the amount of close calls I've had on them, always me at the receiving end of a 'tard...

I presume that there is a whole heap of damage to your car since matey there effectively used it as a ramp?

Brilliant to get it caught on video from an insurance POV though, that certainly wasnt the usual 'bump for a bump'

I have invested in a video recorder for my bike helmet, as I commute 50 miles a day into and out of London it is a must-have for me. If you're involved in an accident and the person who hit you is kind enough to remain on the scene, there's nothing quite like being able to say 'I've got it all on video' to stop someone from trying the old 'admit to it now, then tell my insurance company I'm dying from whiplash later' trick.

Other people are b@stards, plain and simple, it's not worth taking the chance that the other guy is going to be honest.

    Current training: 6-day split
Current cycle: Test E @ 500mg per week

    Current stats:
    Height : 192cm
    Weight : 272lbs
    Body Fat : 15.4%

Good idea - until the cops view the 10 mins of footage prior to the crash and see you doing 100+ down the M4 filtering through rush hour traffic.

I'm pretty sure you can get cameras that rolling record, but only save the 30 seconds before and after an impact - not sure if relavant on a bike, but good idea in a car. Was on TV ages ago, should be product rather than concept by now

    Christ on a bike...what a moron.
Old lady did something very similar to me a few months ago, i managed to stop in time and just leave enough room for her to get through, she looked completely bewildered, as if she didn't realise she was supposed to stop.
