i don't push myself that hard every session. today is the hardest ive pushed myself, i got stuck in a rut lifting the same weights week in week out, so i thought i'd make m,y last sets as much as i could cope with.

any suggestions on how to improve myself, then feel free to comment. i'm fairly new to this and learning new things everyday

Wellany advice is from my personal preferences, i love the big and basic compound movements and i base my routine around these

    benchpress
    military press
    incline benchpress
    dips or skullcrushers

    deadlift
bent over roes or Tbar rows
    barbell shrugs or chin ups
    bisceptcurls

    squats
    leg press
    hamstring curl mabie SLDL
    calf raises

i wouldnt expect you to change your routine massivy but mabie shave it a little - im not a big fan of dumbell flys and pec decs , mabie either cablecrossovers OR flys OR peccus deccus ?? i would stick in either incline bench or decline bench - good old barbells

ok, i will certainly give inclined\declined bench ago.
do you think i should cut down my number of reps\sets and consentrate on heavier weight? my main target is to bulk up

imo 12 reps isnt the best for bulking - you need to be pushing to get 6-8 hard reps out

I always try for 5-8 reps , less at the moment. when i hit 9 repsi up the weight a little.

to bulk up you godda make sure your gettin plenty of protein - buy a big tub or 2 of unflavoured whey , really its the only 'whey' you can up your protein without going bonkers on the chicken n tuna.

If i ever offer advice the main piece is 'never give up' in a rocky 3 appollo and rocky on the beach kinda way ...there is no tommorrow etc etc

    rocky 3, great film

im back at gym tomorrow so will go for 6 reps with as much as i can, if i cant do 6 i'll drop the weight, if i can do more than 6, i'll up the weight.
im looking to find a decent protein, but im on a bit of a tight budget at the mo

Agree with jonny..less volume more intensity...i do three sessions a week...three movements for three sets ands thats it....anything from 1 rep up to 10.However i love pec flyes when done properly heavey they really stress the pecs in a way no other movement can....also times your bodyweight in kg by two and thatll give you your protein intake per day roughly in grams, id recomend getting this with real food if possible then concentrate on geting plenty of fats and carbs which are so overlooked and so nesecery.

    BICEP CURL (CABLE) - 30kg 1 set 10 reps, 35kg 2 sets 8 reps, 40kg 2 sets 7 reps, 45kg 1 set 4 reps

    BICEP CURL (SEATED) - 15kg 1 set 6 reps

    TRI DIP - with 25kg on my legs, 2 sets 8 reps. 35kg 1 set 4 reps

    TRI PULL DOWN - 20kg 2 sets 7 reps, 25kg 2 sets 6 reps, 30kg 1 set 3 reps

they are the heaviest weights i have done for my biceps and tris.
