WHICH CARDIO FOR BAD KNEES

Morning,

I think i have developed patella tendonitus. I play a lot of footy and it has come on since i started pre season 5 weeks a go.

I'm waiting for an appointment to come up with a physio but i've been reading up on the condition myself. It sayd that i will need to stop football/ running for 3 months to allow the tendon to heal. Now this is gonna be a pain as all the hard work i've put in to pre season is gonna be lost.

to make sure i don't completely lose my cardio fitness and also to keep the fat off, which cardio could i do that would not hurt my knee's? the only thing i can think of is a cross trainer.

Swimming pops to mind, stretches all your muscles and a great all rounder for cardio. The only problem is joining another gym if your one doesn't have a pool and getting wet!

I have sh1te knees as well mate and I find the cross trainer/elliptical is excellent! Doesn't hurt my knees at all! Treadmill is obviously a big no no, and I find the rowing machine hurts my knees too. But surprisingly the bike doesn't seem to hurt my knees much. Best talk to your physio though

i was thinking that myself. The other problem i have is that i was using pre season training to also drop my body fat down.

I seem to put fat on very easily and can see my self realy pilling on the pounds if i can't do cardio

Funnily enough i think it was an exercise bike that buggered my knees up in the first place.

I bought my Mrs one and I also started using it daily during the close season and it's been since then that my knees have hurt.

I have a problem with my left knee and found the rower the best to use had a few niggles with the cross trainer but more in the hip than anything.

I used to have this, took quite a while for it to go, just easing off and trying to avoid impact on hard surfaces was what done it for me in the end.
