If you want to "tone" you essentially need to lose body fat whilst maintaining muscle.
As powerhouse says, mostly down to diet ... although AAS can help as you can diet harder whilst keeping muscle strength/size.
For example, I'm cutting by around 500-750 kcal a day (below my BMR) and using AAS (below) to enable me to keep mass (infact I'm putting on lean mass)
I'm on week 6:
1-8 - winny (oral) 50mg ed
1-8 - prop 100mg eod
1-6 - tren 75mg eod
With soemthing like that you can keep most of your mass and teh body fat drops off (with appropriate diet, CV and training) ... but diet is most important thing IMO.

Amateur cage fighter @ 95 - 105kg
