WSM 2014

Brilliant, loved it, and glad to see big z back where he belongs. Did not look it up this year so not a clue what results were so exciting for me to watch.

Quote of the competition, Brian Shaw after his keg toss
I dont think thats beatable

Then his look of astonishment as Hafthor Bjornsson does a 16.35

worn out, shouting
Holy ****... What a ride!!"

It was a very good final this year, and it was ran very close!

Sadly, I knew the result after it was announced at the worlds strongest team event, so that did take a little bit of the excitement away for me.

Big Z is unreal though, despite being 38 he doesn't really have any real weakness. Despite him making some uncharacteristic mistakes in the keg toss, he was solid in every event.

I did enjoy Thor besting Shaw in the keg toss though... To be fair to Brian, he seems very humble and he did post an amazing time. Thor however was electric and just nailed it.

There are some very good strongmen on the scene now, and the UK has a fantastic crop currently. I expect big things of Ed Hall and in years to come, it will be Ed and Thor battling it out for 1st place.

i was gutted thor didnt win, i had my money on him or big z...
i was pissed they only showed 2 rounds of the stone last night, come on channel 5!

eddie hall looks promising but many years away from breaking the top 3 i think.
terry held his own despite being on the ass end of an amazing career.

I bet Thor is regretting not wearing a squat suit, he only needed one more rep.

As for Eddie Hall ever winning, he had half the winners points. That's a lot of improvement in everything he needs. If all events where static strength then yes he would have a chance.

why the fck would you not wear the suit??
he had to change his footing as well and i know that throws the confidence in lifting straight away
thor lost 1st place, big Z was handed it.

No idea why Thor didn't wear a suit, but it's a mistake he can learn from... He can only improve though, as he is a fantastic athlete.

I'm looking forward to the Arnold's and hope that Ed get's an invite to that, those events would suit him more.

Cracking one this year, very close with some epic performances.  Thors atlas stones time was equally as impressive as the keg toss!

Always support Ed Hall as he's a local lad I think he'll have a promising future although I think the final seemed to have a lot of events that needed a bit more technique bias as oppose to static strength which mixed it up nicely.

A very good final, I'd say the top 3 are possibly the 3 strongest ever in WSM. Although it wasn't big Z's best showing, glad he won though.
Eddie Hall is astonishing in some events, but to win he needs to consistently be in the top 3 for every event not get a first place, then a fifth or seventh place etc.

Like all the brits for the last few years, Eddie is great at the powerlifts but inconsistent on endurance or explosive events, conditioning isn't a strong point for the Brits.

Always pisses me off that they limit the final to 1 hour, could easily fill 2

Agree, maybe showing them hugely strong guys who are  struggling  would make you appreciate how strong the  top 3 actually are.

Speaking of the Arnold's Big Z winning this year was more Z magic.
