Waiting in queues!! AArrGG, Hate it!

Dont you find that when you have to wait in a queue these days that its taking longer and longer to get served?

Fast food? Dont think this exists in the UK anymore as the waiting time seems to get worse every year.

Ive been to quite a few Countries in my days and cannot think of one that has such a poor customer service record as the UK.

In the USA service is very swift indeed from what ive seen, but in the UK its quite common to have to wait for a bar maid to finish there conversation with another customer before thay actually get round to serving you..

Does anyone else find this?

Cheers, Rich

    I hate queues too.

I have come to a conclusion that if everyone was as quick as me in queuing up for things the world would be a better place.

People take so long at doing things.

Here's a simple example of how a queue could be made to move quicker. Lets take the car park ticket paying machine queue we've all had to deal with. I don't think it's particularly hard to, whilst walking to the point, put your hand in an easily accessible pocket and pull the ticket out. Pass it to the left hand and now use your right hand to pull the wallet out and pick your change out. Now just wait.

But what actually happens is you queue up you are ready and then some idiot is in front of you. Who suddenly becomes surprised that they have to put the ticket in the machine and pay! So they spend the next couple of minutes "Going oh where is my ticket. Oh I've lost my change"

Same as underground tube stations. It never ceases to amaze me that people get to the barrier, stop rummage round in their bag or whatever and then find the ticket for a minute or so. THEY DO THIS TRIP EVERYDAY! They must now by now they use a ticket in the machine!

SORT YOURSELF OUT BEFORE YOU GET TO THE FRONT OF THE QUEUE!!! IT'S NOT HARD!

this is britain. Queuing is ournational sport!
lol at pretending to be german. That was going on all the time on holiday!

I just take it as part of the course of the day to be honest.

Or I just have a personal c.d. player or book with me and it keeps me occupired, or I'm writing an artile in my head, or planning out my day/week/ or something. It passes the time and I feel I've done something constructive.

It's not the queue's so much it's the idiots in them. They are slow.

Queing like you say is a great polite tradition. I much prefer it. I was in Greece once and it was a free for all. People on the streets come across as rude with no manners.

Queuing works. I just wish people would speed themselves up. When I get to the front of the line I am incredibly quick.

I went to our local somerfield the other day. I queued up, put all my stuff on the belt and just as I was taking my card out of my purse the checkout girl said "are you paying by card?" I said that I was, she then said it was a cash only till. I looked around and then saw the sign standing behind a fridge full of coke. I said that it wasnt a very good place to put the sign. She spat though her teeth and said "its nothing to do with me", I looked across to the nearest till with five people queuing and replied "you know what, I CANT BE BOTHERED" and I walked out of the shop while she had to clear the counter of my shopping. Cheeky f*cking mare. That made her get off her fat arse and do some work.

yeah the abpve is just rude, ragdoll. You can ask to see her manager in that case, and get *rsey with him.

DaveH, I know what you mean, seen that Eddie Izzard standup but where he's talking about old crazy people slowing your queue down: "I WANNA PAY WITH STRING! string, wrapped around my body!" "Well, you'll havbe to fill out a form!"

I knwo what you mean though, I'm okay unless I'm in a hurry to catch a train or meet someone or I'm in an urgent rush, then there seems to be someone counting out pennies to pay for insanely expensicve electrical items that they probably won't ever work out how to use!

Or there's some girl working to pay for her next fix who has smoked he brain away to the point where she could actually be in a zombie B-movie, without really acting, shuffling away at the till with the customer service skills of a bored zoo animal! yeah that annoys me.

Or when you get to the front and discover that the person serving you is not onlyu rude, but doesn't even have the most BASIC grasp of the english language so you have to gesticulate wildly and HOPE to goodness she understands before youattack her with the offending vegetable that you are TRYING TO BUY!

Let me get this straight, being of 3rd generation migrant background (on my dad's side). I welcome people from all over the world to or great country, but I'm fairly sure that the number one reason for the BNP and suchlike organisation still existing is just out of sheer frustration at not being able to get out of a supermarket without a series of picture cards, a bored marker and a nuber of odd looks from everyone around!

You know what, I started this reply hoping to be all Zen and calm but the more I think about it, the more I hate queues!

In fact, bring on a system whereby the strongest and fittest get to the queue first, so people like me can get on with their day and leave some doddery on penny-counter in my dust to deal with the latestest RETARD on the counter!

    sigh! I'm done

i feel exactly the same.. it genuinely annoys me when people piss about. It's always either old people or women.

I've noticed blokes always either get the card their going to use or have the cash in hand. Women and old people muller over whether to pay card or cash, look for those extra pennies to make up the pound, before they move out of the way so i can get served make sure they put money in the purse, notes in the slit, receipt in there too, put purse back in bag or wallet and then eventually get out of the way

it happened today in morrisons some daft old woman looking through a huge handbag full of crap for her purse..

ahhh feel better for venting that!

Actually, men may have their money ready in supermarkets but what they don;t do it hand it over until they've finished packing their stuff so the attendant is sat there waiting. Once all bags are loaded into the trolley then the money is handed over so the other customers then have to wait.........................so all this criticism of women in shops etc....................men, whilst your packing your bags, hand over the card/cash so that as soon as your last bag's packed you can go..............................

i can vouch for me not being one of them sort kitty, cash in hand; when they've finished passing things through check out, swiftly hand over money, give the ol' thanks love, pack rest of stuff, have carriers in hand, take change and go!

also in petrol stations, people get to the till, and actually look over and try and figure out what number they are on, then they'll decide actually we'll get some sweets for the kids etc.. why not bloody check before hand and get what you want before queueing???

LOL, now comes the psychology of the sweet counter by the till. You stand there and look at them and think "shall I? shan't I, shall I? shan't I, shall I? shan't I, shall I? shan't I. No I bloody won't?" Then it's your turn and you think "oh stuff it, I shall"
