Certain exercises can place more stress on/emphasis on different areas of a muscle(incline press to hit the upper chest as opposed to a flat press for example)......But muscle shape is determined by genetics.

The chest is one muscle, questions like this come round so often but targeting the outer chest isnt really easy, just training the whole chest will determine the shape in part along with your genetics.

Back in the day it was believed that wide grip V-Bar dips with elbows out hit the outer and lower pec fibres best.

Back in the day it was believed that wide grip V-Bar dips with elbows out hit the outer and lower pec fibres best.

Back in the day people weren't that clued up about anatomy and physiology.

There's some legitimate debate whether upper/lower pecs can be emphasised depending on angle of bench.
The inner/outer pecs theory sadly carries no weight as it is impossible to emphasise this particular part of the chest.

Genetics, bodyfat % and overall size will determine the shape of your chest.
