Weights & Boxing

OK, so I do 3 boxing sessions a week (Mon, Wed, Fri)

Also do fast AM cardio on a Saturday & Sunday.

I want to include some weights into my regime. Currently on a cut, and getting OK results but think I need to do some weights to add some more definition, strength & size.

The gym I train at doesn't have the bigest selection of weights. It does have a stack of dumbells & bench , a smith machine and a few others (Leg extensions, lat pull down & Shoulder press)

What \ When is best?

I usually do my weight training in the morning then my skill specific training in the evening. For example Monday could be something like:

    AM - Plyometric Strength Workout
    PM - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

    Another day might be:

    AM - Core Workout
    PM - Kickboxing

That's just the way I work it.

I imagine it depends how you train with weights. If a fighter were to train like a bodybuilder or a powerlifter even just once a week, surely doms would hamper his ability to train to full effect in his combat art?

Think I will add them onto the end of each session and see how it goes. Will do a Push / Pull split on Mon & Fri.

    Cheers
