What are your pet hates at the gym?

My gym is full of egotistical ballbags that spend their time in the gym strutting around, making girls feel uncomfortable and taking up shed loads of equipment.

My biggest pet hates are:

People sat on a bench, on their phones for 5 minutes between sets, chatting in large groups during peak time!
People who can't share equipment.
People that sweat **** loads and dont wipe down the benches.

Just having a bit of a rant but it'd be interesting to see if you guys have the same kind of problems in your gyms?

people that squat in the curl rack
people that don't appreciate my manly smell or my wonderfully fragrant bottom burps
people who can lift more than me
people who are better looking than me
people who are more muscular than me

seriously though,
you can tell when a certain guy is at my gym by the smell (you can with me too, but that's deep heat not BO) - no nice!
crossfit gimps looking down their noses at people (nowt against crossfit done properly but it isn't the only way to fcuking train!)
apart from that my gym's pretty good tbh

I never use my indicators, I don't like people knowing what I'm up to

i see this so often in my gym - people not even attempting to try to workout - weights fine - people have a phobia that lifting heavy means they'll wake up like arnie the next day but slow walking on the treadmill for an hour - really - just walk home!

people who stand in front of the squat rack and dont use it for any exercise, they just want to look in the mirror.

people who cant add up in 20's or 10's so they take all the 5kg plates.

people who use the cable crossover station for tricep/bicep work on a single pulley despite there being low/high pulley single stations not in use.

those who do not mop up head sweat off a bench after use

people who place one dumbbell in one part of the rack and the other in some random location.

dumbbell hoarders, of course, the whole gym must observe their triple drop set

women who wear low cut tops and complain about male attention/staring

screamers, weight droppers, shadow boxers, 'too tight t-shirt/joggers man', chalk users who must clap their hands before a lift.

I have to admit that in all my years of training and in all the many gyms I've patronised, I don't think I've ever come across someone curling in the squat rack! My main peeves are hogging equipment. Be it the old guy who spend his whole time there on one piece of equipment, or the group of four or five young lads hogging a bench all night. Not putting weights away, or dropping them at the end of a set is a c**ts trick too.

You did gain far too much fat though,I mean, you're not muscular at all, you're just a fat mess.

Pets?!

Mine are bawbags sat there on their phones on benches that are in demand
Smelly people
PTs giving terrible advice but because they're being paid, 'it must be true'.

Excessive grunting. There's a guy at our place we refer to as Grunt Mitchell - we went last night and if you've been in a pure gym, they have the entry pods where you punch your code in to get in the gym. You could hear him, quite loud, before you got into the door pod. The free weights area is upstairs and at the back of the gym. It's only one person, but you can see why some people get put off going to the gym (those who will just do cardio) when they're listening to some berkley hunt shouting unecessarily for an hour

I'm generally a fairly tolerant chap, but yesterday some **** was using the only available rack to do mil presses with an empty bar, whilst 90% of the rest of the gym was empty.  I know it's a stupid passive-aggressive thing to do, but I did deliberately linger in his line of sight so that he'd clear off a bit sooner.

Another one I've encountered a few times recently - people who take up the entire 'hall' area laying out elaborate circuits for themselves, then give you the evil eye for daring to occupy a few square foot of space.

People that have dumbells passed to them. If your big enough to press it your big enough to get them up.

Squat 220kg(3) - Bench 200Kg - Deadlift 250kg - Strict Press 130kg - Push Press 140kg

The influx of GoPros in the gym is hilarious. There were about 4 in baker street fitness first the other night....

Basically people that don't respect others or the equipment.

This can include;
Not putting kit away
Dropping DB for no reason and from height
Taking up kit doing stupid **** they could do anywhere else
Getting in your way whilst actually lifting. This incudes trying to take plates of a rack/station whilst your lifting.

As long as your being respectful of kit and others, not much actually bothers me. Most of the rest of the stuff I see is just laughable as opposed to annoying. For instance I don't mind peeps being on phones. It's their dollar as long as not getting in others ways.

Anyone who's well rested between sets, breathing normally and staring into space on a machine I'm waiting for.
