What counts as 'for reps'

I'm probably just having a blonde moment and reps simply means more than one lift - but when somebody says that they bench 100kg for reps what counts?

Is doing 2-3 enough, or do you need to be repping out 4-5?

Being plural, any number greater than one.

Of course, it would help if it was specified what that number was.

And whether a spotter was, in fact, rowing the bench press for the lifter.

I'd say at least 4, because you can do 'X' amount of weight for a double or triple, but no one ever says 'quadruple'!

By definition its 2 reps or over, In practice though you have "Singles", "Doubles", "Triples", So four or over.
Really its down to the individual, on how they view the description.

Its a way of a weight trainer, being able to descibe an indeterminate number, of how many reps they feel confident of being able to do, with a particular weight, but may of never actually done.

So they may have completed an easy double, therefore that person assumes can complete 3 or 4 reps.

"For reps"= A sloppy term, That we should scrap.

I'd also say 4 or more, for the above reasons.

Depends on the person saying it.  Your typical BB'er or gym goer I would expect it to be a working set of 6-8+.  For anyone who powerlifts at all it means more than 1.

I'm with 2 camps here..... I may very well say it myself for anything I do 4+ on but when I hear it said to me I immediately assume a minimum of 6 TBH.

I only ever really use the phrase when talking about training with 'outsiders'.

Ditto, I'd assume 4 or over

Bit of a silly term really though, it doesn't take much effort to write "for 10 reps" as opposed to "for reps"

I actually assume when I see it on some US forums that the person is lying, and isn't sure how strong they should pretend to be lol

Id say 4 or over because after 4 the weight starts feeling much lighter.

I'd say 2-3 reps, because if it was a decent number they'd say.

For me rep would mean quite a high number, 8+

I normally say "reps" when knocking out 15 or so
