What do you do to relax and recover after a heavy gym week?

As above.

I'm back seriously at the gym after losing my enthusiasm for it and getting used to going heavy and full on again, as well as a clean diet (mostly).

I'm wrecked now though lol What do you all do to relax and recover on weekends/rest days? Don't wanna be spending too much time sitting around.

I know what you mean. i don't want to be lethargic on off days just. I know i'm tired now because i'm still adjusting to being back at it hard.

My routine is more based around fitness rather than lifting so I don't get wrecked in that sense. However, I do get run down and achy. When this happens I get a really good strong professional massage.

Sit on sofa, have the odd beer and chill with misses. Work, training, a 3 old with another due now there aint too much else going on. I am happy with training being the number one after family. Feeling battered most days is just the price to pay lol

Not being funny but if your gym routine is seriously affecting your ability to do normal stuff and you feel like the need for absolute rest through being so banged up from the gym then you need to rethink your routine.

I work out very intensely 2 maybe 3 days a week and my sessions probably last no more than 25-30 minutes, which is probably considered low volume by most but I've got myself in pretty decent shape without it impacting on my family/home/work life whilst minimizing gym time.

I'm a stupidly busy person. I'm a working single parent who goes to the gym 4-5 times a week and I'm doing a degree in physics and maths in my spare time. I keep reptiles as well which takes a bit of my day. I'm done at the weekend, finished, destroyed etc.. Sofa , ps4 and sky. Sometimes go to the gym on a sat or for a swim sun, but if the week has been good, like to veg out, eat well and chill with family or friends and have a few beers.

It's not that its seriously affecting it, i'm just transitioning back into training being a bigger part of my life again. Call it bodyshock if you will. That's prob no bad thing though as shows why I needed to be back at the gym more.

If you are literally just back at it then you will be feeling a bit battered imo.
Give it a week or 2 getting used to the extra work load you're putting on yourself and id imagine you'll feel better.
    Work then R&R.
Your body will adapt but give it time.
Then you can move up to really working hard in the gym :-)

As above your body will adapt over time, some people can train 2 hours per day 6-7 days a week and still feel fine about doing stuff with the family etc, you cannot just expect to feel great when you start doing any form of hard training but over time your body adapts to the extra work, and therefore it shouldn't have the effect of leaving you feeling as if you just want rest, and besides whats wrong with just resting, it's all I do if I'm not working, at the gym or having my children.

But still if I want to do something then I'll still do it, so long as I'm feeling rested enough.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.
