What do you pay a month for gas and electrity?

Hi folks. Just been sent a letter from Sainsburs energy stating we need to increase our payment to £100 a month from £75 to cover our useage.

We are a family of four, and I was just wondering what you folks pay as £100 a month for gas and electricity seems steep to me.

The solar water heating is a 20-tube Thermomax evacuated heat-pipe system which cost ~£1,500 back in 1991.

The ventilation is a couple of Toshiba VFE-25K units (~£150 each back in 1991) mounted through 1' square holes in the kitchen and bathroom walls. They are not obtainable anymore which is a shame as they have contra-flow heat exchangers with >80% heat transfer.

Im paying £43 ppm for an all electric apartment with underfloor heating at the mo, pretty sure i should be paying a little more though.

Moving to a 3 bed detached very soon with gas so have budgeted @ £50 electric and £50 gas - the gas of which will only be used for central heating/hot water. Im sure ive over budegted for just me and the t'uther half so any thasts left over is a bonus.

I have been looking into solar power a little over this last couple of weeks, i believe you can get grants towards getting some solar setup, just have to work out how long it would take to pay for itself

currently set at £71.... just moved and changed supplier so no idea if that will go up or down but I'm a bit of a bugger for trying to save on these bills. As it's summer I'm bound to be overpaying now so I'll be looking for them to drop the rate in Winter just to realise that over the year they probbaly aren't too far out so they'll up in again

I have my dinner cooked on the Bar-B-Q every night, tastes nicer, better eating outside and so cheap, saves so much gas and electric. Would'nt surprise me if the goverment caught on to this, all my friends do it, and started taxing everyone who uses a Bar-B-Q.

This is what I have started to do mate.......healthier option aswell....thats if it cooked properly. Especially in weather like today...can't beat it

Im with powergen and we had something similar well over a year ago saying we need to increase to over 100 to make up for their estimate.. We were in arrears of nearly 300. They let us pay about 40 a month for a few years and just chucked it right up. So I said i want a meter installed which they did and said that everytime we topped up they would take some of the arrears off. Well, at the moment we are getting by using only 20-30 a month. I still havent got round to changing suppliers yet) which I will if they dont take a large chunk of the arrears off.
Apparantly, everyone should change providers if you never have.

Don't get me bloody started on this!!!

Recently moved from Scottish power to EDF energy (to save money!!) and have ended up having to pay up nearly £500 because Scottish power didn't set my Direct Debit high enought each month or the last year. I was paying around £34 for one and £45 for the other.

I am now with EDF anf paying £75 in total

BTW, that is for a 3 bed semi, with my wife, my daughter and I.

I live in a 1590 sq ft home that total electric exept for heat. Electric bill for June'July typically is around 150-160 per month and gas bill is a minimum service fee of around $10 per month. Now my automobile gas cost me and wife around around $200+ per month
and she stays at home and watches a kid...

During the winter months, get cold here. Gas is usually over $100 per month and electric drops to around 65-75 monthly..
