What i take Post Workout

At the moment, PWO i take one of TT's shakes, So whey in water, oats, peanuts (not peanut butter), banana.

Would it also be a good idea to take dextrose seperately as well? - and if so, can i just chomp a dextrose tablet that you can find in most supermarkets?

I think that will do as a meal replacement shake but if you are bulking then i wouldnt take the oats or peanuts in post workout shake but dextrose in wheyinstaed. You can have that shake for your PPwo or a meal. Having the peanuts and oats will really slow down digestion of food and after a workout u want something fast acting.

    Seems ok.

Lose the peanuts and add them later on.

    Have the dextrose, whey, banana.

Depends on how many carbs you get from these glucose tabs.

If you do not get a lot from the dextrose, then keep the oats in.

I would suggest retaining the oats with it being a complex carbohydrate it should lessen any kind of crash you may get post dextrose consumption, just a thought.

So the oats are a source of complex carbs? is this why we eat them?

I wasnt sure. I know rice etc is a good source of complex carbs, but i wasnt sure what the oats in the diet were for soecifically.

Yes complex, slow release of energy, but as some have stated they aren slower digesting and as a result don't make you crash like more refined sugars do. that's why chocolate satisfies quickly, but doesn't satify completely, when the sugar rush has gone - it's gone, and the body craves more hence the need for slow release sugars in complex carbs. Hope this helps.
