What is your resting heart rate

Mine is 95 - 100.  Think it might be down to the meds I am on.  When I am on the tread mill with the gradient at 15 and speed between 2.5 - 3.5 my heart rate reads between 145 - 150.  Do you think it will go down if I use it 3 times a week

Thanks all

My mrs was ill last week and took a trip the doctors who measured her heart rate and her resting rate between 80-90bpm which worried her. Over the next few days we kept on an eye on it and it did start lowering. I checked mine my resting heart rate is between 57-60bpm

That's pretty high. You think or you know it's down to the meds you're on? Is your doctor aware of your resting heart rate?

Building up your cardio will help lower resting heart rate, with higher intensity being more effective.

    Bench - 145kg
    Squat - 190kg
    Clean & Jerk - 129kg

    43.

Mainly genetically determined. But a good overall predictor of mortality and also CV fitness.

Look up HRV (heart rate variability) which is even more useful.

Mines 81 (according to the treadmill this evening), high due to my weight. Doing lots of cv and dropping kgs so hope this will go down in time. Doing HIT sprinting this evening got a max of 177. I'm 30 so 190 is 100% for me.

I always remember the great cyclist Miguel Indurain had a resting heart rate of 28! The man was a machine.

    38 bpm at 17.5-18 stone.

Find it hard at times to get it high (over 120)

    Sweat real easy though.

About 60 but its going to get lower again now I'm back to doing Cardio. When I had my ear operated on I was watching the machine and it read 38 :) I was also fit and young then so doubt I will see it again. My mum has a low heart rate even though she is very fat and has high blood pressure my dad has low blood pressure and a high heart rate.

This morning it was 45, which is not too bad. I've had it down to 36bpm at my best when I was doing 20+ hours of endurance exercise (rowing) each week.

95-100 is an issue for a resting heart rate. What meds are you taking? Your GP is stupid if he believes this is not an issue.
