You need to first measure up and decide what screen you want. "Big Ass" could mean 37, 42, 46, 50, 60 or 65"

It's no good just getting a massive screen. If your room is not big enough to accomodate it comfortably it'll look a tw@t and it'll be uncomfortable to watch in terms of viewing distance.

My front room isnt big so i'd probably say a 42 is big enough, a friend of mine has a 70 inch and it just looks daft.

T0NY where did you get your LG from mate? Is this a good deal:

    ^^^^ as above

Get yourself a copy of 'What Home Cinema' or equivalent and let the experts provide you with some options.

From there, choose the one you want and then go to Pricerunner or something like that and get the best deal.

Not up on all the spec but I'd have this in my front room

Probably find it cheaper if you scout about.

Once the size is established. Look at the specs and get independant reviews for different manufacturers models. All the major manufacturers have product info on their websites so you can obtain the latest model numbers there. I would suggest that you get a full 1080p HD screen

Definitely go 1080p. Then for console use and bluray films you'll actually get to see all the detail that is there. Great for use with a pc or laptop too. As long as it's 37"+ then you should be able to make out the detail depending on the distance you sit from the screen. I have 20/20 vision so tend to be able to notice the difference.

Have you got a budget in mind?

Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak

Personally I would go with a samsung, there sexy, not too expensive and they are the only company to have a zero dead pixel policy.

The article was written when 1080p was quite a luxury. They are much more mainstream now
