What was in that Spinach??

Well weve all seen it!

He cracks open a tin of spinich and gobbles it all down in one!

His strenght skyrockets and he is able to beat foes more than twice his size!
It also game him an insatiable appetite for the less than stunning Olive!

So what was in it? Pure Testosterone? Some sort of magical anabolic?

Whatever it was i think the deformed forearms where a side effect!

Yes, I read last week that spinach had an anabolic effect, but you'd need to eat 2 pounds (or was it 2 kilos?) a day to really benefit. And I really hate the stuff. Pity they couldn't distill the active ingredient into a spinach pill.

Recent research (see last weeks new scientist) has demonstrated that the plant steriods found in vegitation, like spinach, can increase protein synthesis in human and rat cells. It did not mention the methods or concentrations used, but did suggest that you would have to eat a 1kg a day to potentially see an effect.
