when i first started i took it pretty easy ( nov 2003), deadliftin around 50-60kg mark max for 4-5 weeks until i an some others who deadlifted were extremely satisfied with my form, now can deadlift 120 kgs for 4 reps, my 1RM probs around the 140 mark.

    age 17
    height 5'11
weight 154 LBS (due to a 2 month lay off cos of surgery)

When I started probably something like 60-80kg for 5 reps.

I consider my DL to be very poor.. I've been doing them about 3 months.. started at 50kg.. now do 3x5 with 112.5kg .. my best is 120kg for 3 (after 2 other sets).. never attempted a 1RM.

    Oh I'm 77kg 1.75m and 38

When I was first shown how to deadlift I used the bar and a couple of 15's either side (just so I could actually reach the bar). So I guess 50 Kg.

I started off with 70kg but that was a little bit below what I really could have done.

The improvement comes quickly - almost 3 months later I can do 125kg 5x5.

I was 18yo, 5'6, and 140lbs when I started deadlifts. I had lifted for almost two years without deadlifting though, and competed in judo at national elite level at the time.
    I started at 90-100kg somewhere.

First time I ever deadlifted I maxxed out. I was around
25 years old and roughly 190 lbs. Did 375 lbs :)
Form was awful. I did not continue to do them until 10 years
later (20 months ago) and started about where I left off, although
    20 pounds heavier .
