Most gym's would most likely be able to help you - I can use callipers effectively and know all the sites are to take the measurements, have charts which give you results, etc.

i believe there is a procedure where electricity is passed through the body and they measure the time it takes it to travel to your feet and back the more fat in your body the slower the electricity takes to get back they can get a reading from that i think

Most good health club chains will be able to sort you out. The easiest way is with callipers, if not SNC Direct sell a calliper set with booklet and instructions.

I have my done at the local hospital. They charge a small fee for the service. They use a BI method where an safe electrical current is passed through the body. You need to lie flat on the floor with little or no movement. They attach a probe to your wrist and your ankle. It takes about 1 minute. They input the info into the computer and you get a print out of your body fat, lean muscle and water content. I assume most hospitals offer this service. I use the "TANITA" bodyfat scales which work on the same principal sometimes, but I have been told they can be inaccurate. I'm sure they still give you a rough guide though.

In terms of BIA testing I would forget about Tanita scales, find someone that uses a Bodystat device (the one where you have an electrode attached to your foot and your hand). Make sure you follow the pre-test protocols and you should get a reading accurate to +/- 3%

Callipers are also accurate to around this level but make sure you get someone to do it who is very experienced and is good at pinching skinfolds.

As James said it's not easy to get measured via Hydrostatic Densitometry (Underwater weighing) as generally only universities and certain sports science laboratories have the equipment necessary (chiefly a huge tank of water!)

I did get measured this way however at the University of Portsmouth. They will do this and a multi-site calliper test for about £50.
