sat fats are a good fat but little is needed for hormone levels. I would say bad fats are man made fats such as hydrogenated fats and transfat in huge quantities. Polys, monos and even sat fats found in coconut, anchor butter etc are quite healthy in the right proportions

hydrogenated fats are saturated fats but they are man made saturated fats so henceforth they are classed as bad. Most of your dailt fat intake should be polys, monos, efa with a little saturated fat

The ingredients list is more useful then the Nutritional Breakdown for finding the Trans and or Hydrogenated.

Out of interest Partially Hydrogenated is reportedly worse then Hydrogenated so it's best not to presume :-)

i dont presume anything mate if its not natural then i dont eat it, man made fats are bad news always have been always will be. There are very low levels of transfat found naturally in food anyway but hydro is not something to be eaten in my book

I think i have read before that the USDA recommend that ~30% of your total fat intake, from saturated fats is 'optimal'.

And an article on saturated fats from the bookmarks...

a ratio of 1:1:1 poly/mono/sat is often suggested

IMO thats cool but its better, again IMO to suggest

"try and get the following fats in your diet with the balance swinging towards X,Y and Z"

so sat fats can be good and can be bad
    same with polys

because "Everything is bad in excess"??? I figured that was common sense.. but still, unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are healthier than saturated and trans fats... scientists have known this since the 1960s. Cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, and strokes are all correlated with diets high in saturated and trans fats.
