Which Ipod to Get?

OK folks. I won a Samsung K5 through work, I am an appliance salesman and won it for selling the most Samsung products, and it died after about 4 months. It will no longer even come on. So I am looking for a replacement mp3 player and the Ipods are looking pretty good to me. Problem is, with so many choices I don't know which one is best for me. I really only NEED it to run with in the mornings and use while lifting, but I do like the idea of being able to take all of my music with me wherever I go. I originally wanted the 80 gig but got to thinking that might be overkill if I only use it for music, so I settled on the 30 gig. I was concerned though that since the larger ones are hard drive based, will they skip or get damaged from running and working out with? I would appreciate the help and maybe first hand experience as I know very little about mp3 players. Thanks!

how could you ever possibly need 30gb of music!?!? at approx 4500kb a track isn't that in excess of 6,500 songs?!

I'd personaly opt for the nano at 2gb, roughly £80 - £90 and that will hold more music than you'll probably listen to. I mean if you get sick of a few albums, clear them off and your space is freed up again anyway.

It depends how much music and how much variety you want. 2gb is very easy to fill up in a short space of time and I personally wouldn't want to mess about changing the tracks on there every week or so.
I have a 30gb video Ipod and it is perfect. No problems running or training with it, it's light enough and can be used with an armband and nevers skips.

You can get 8 gigabyte nanos now. That should be more than enough to get by on. I have a 2 gigabyte nano, ive had it since nanos were released! Its still running prefectly and i still havent used the 2gb yet! I only ever put songs on there that i really like!

Ive practically fillled the 30GB one, just nice knowing I have a few backups of my entire music collection digitally.

What ever you go for, jsut get rid of the shambollick headphones it comes with.

At 7.30am today the kind UPS delivery bloke handed me my FOURTH replacement ipod in under six months.

I'm pining for my old brick-sized i-River that performed flawlessly for three-and-a-half years.

I've got the 80gb iPod and it's a bit chunky for going running with etc, I'm always out and about though so I like having everything on there

My gym plays spot on training music anyway and I needed the 80gb for the 45gb's of music I already have (that's colleced over 2 years) otherwise I would have opted for a nano personally

Ive got the now defunct 4gb mini...with only 2gb used up...and im in china, so this music is the only western music I hear...but there are still too many tracks on their really...when I check my itunes on my laptop...there are still some songs I aint listened to in the last 4 months.....30gb or 80gb is just overkill unless you use it for movies IMO
