Who else has finished 'Breaking Bad' ? (WARNING, SPOILERS, DOH!!)

I have to say....amazing!!

First I'll start off with the Negatives (and they're not very negative either)...

Skylar/Marie - what a couple of worthless harpies!  Sit around and do nothing most of the day except harass their husbands, in Marie's case steal sh1t, in Skylar's...too many to mention, the women was a cnut of the highest order.

Walt losing his pants every few episodes - I mean, come on...do I need to see a pair of pasty, untrained, 52 yr old MALE legs?  Nahhh.

Ok, Positives...

Jesse's screw-ups - hilarious, and far too many to mention;

Saul - need I say anything more?? ;

The 'Fly' episode - simply wonderful, and a beautiful analogy for the senselessness of Walt's ENTIRE latter existence;

Walt/Jessie - the 'Odd couple' dynamic was superb...

Gustavo - brilliant evil mastermind, loved the brilliance when he downs the first glass of a poisoned bottle of Tequila at his drug-suppliers party, goes to the loo to puke it back out and when he returns, all his rivals are dead/dying...also helped by the fact he played Agent Baer in the Usual Suspects (which had a character similar)

    Excellent series.  Only thing that i've personally seen to match it since is Game of Thrones

    Also looking forward to see the prequel http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/review-better-call-saul-a-breaking-bad-prequel-with-promise

    I enjoyed it, the acting is excellent.
    I wasn`t sure at first, I didn`t feel the story was believable but as it progressed it became more convincing.
    Very addictive, watched the whole thing over a couple of weeks.

    Same here, got some time off and polished off the series in about 10 days - maybe 11.

    Just want to add, I SO fancy the Lydia character...for her brains...ahhh, if only all women thought like her.

    I loved Saul in it.

    He was originally meant to be a very small part but because he proved so popular they kept writing him back in it.

    Great show very funny in places too.

    Pretty sure that was Jessie that was supposed taken out of the series early but they kept him in? Maybe both..

    My favourite series. Brilliaint. Game of thrones is close behind if not level.

    Saul is getting his own show I am pretty sure.

    I do a lot of push ups and sit ups. And I drink plenty of milk.

    I've nearly finished it for the second time around and I've enjoyed it just as much as the first.  In fact I can probably see myself watching it through again at some point in the future.

    Yeah same as you Blub.  Loved it but loathed Skylar, to the point of googling "I hate Skylar"- we are not alone.  Shame there are so few sympathetic female charecters in these awesome American series.  I didn't like Carmela in the Sopranos or the woman in Broadwalk Empire, can it really be so hard to write a likeable and strong female charecter?

    I'm looking at watching it again but even my favorite ever TV (Walking Dead) struggled a bit with a revisit.  The stronger and weaker seasons become even further apart.

    It's all about believability.  Art has to imitate life a BIT.  Whether you care for it or not, women who are both likeable AND capable of running a business or an entire corporate department within a few weeks are a damn rare breed in real life, though I do have one in my own family.  Most people don't, the marketing execs know that damn well, so though they're gonna take a few risks, they still want to reel in viewers.  Not gonna happen if you say, "Ah this is such bull****, I don't know any woman who talks like that".

    That said, there were very few MALE characters in BB I liked, with the exceptions of Saul and Hank (though I detest the latter's job).

    Good as BB  was, I still prefer 'The Sopranos'.  Yes, Carmella was about as big a CNUT as Skylar, and Thony even called her out on her two-faced nature in one scene.

    One thing about the female lead charecters in BB,  Sopranos and Broadwalk is they all enjoyed the fruits of the husbands crimes whilst looking down on/judging them and acting offended and above it all.  Are they supposed to be the conscience of the audience?

    This got on my tits, a partner, is a partner and I'd like to have seen them sharing the responsibility.

    Many, if not most housewives happily live off their husbands money whilst alternating between gobbing off at him that he spends too much time at work, and haranguing him 30 seconds later that he doesn't earn enough.  Or, between him not earning enough, and two minutes later, that he doesn't spend enough time with her and the kids.  Just ask any of the poor married stiffs here.  Ultimately, money talks.

    Again, this is just the production company's enforcing believability.  You already have, as it's central premise, the concept of a middle-aged wimp transforming into a narc kingpin; the main audience for BB are the older fellas (ie 40-65) dreaming that they could also escape their dreary lives and dreary wives - that's a stretch in and of itself.  So they have to make the REST of the show as grittily lifelike as possible.  The only reason Walt Jr was written as a cripple was to make Walt's life even tougher.

    Do you expect the producers to stretch credibility even MORE by giving Walt/Hank nice women who are supportive and will help them?  Marie did this a bit with her husband, but that's all they're gonna dare.

    Had I seen it before all the hype I would have been blown away by it but because of the hype I was expecting something truly unique. It is a great series and I did enjoy it immensely but I compare every crime drama to 'The Wire' which was truly unique and for me it doesn't quite reach that standard. Still great though. Loved Hank.
