Started competing relatively late at 39. Competed in local shows then the ukbff. Did ok. Then competed with the PCA from 2015. Best position was 3rd at the British finals 2016 class 4 . Wil be competing next year at the PCA Manchester show then hopefully the British finals.

Interesting. What local shows? Are they not all NABBA or UKBFF? I'm 41 but think I might - might - be ready in two to three years for a first-timer show...

Hi.. I did Mr Bolton and Mr Cheshire. Which where both local independent shows

Bolton is an IBFA qualifier this year , Im thinking of doing that one, you wearing shorts this year Johnny ?

I certainly am not:) I'm gunning for that PCA class 4 British title! I'll be in the black crushed velvet trunks with diamante.

I judged at last year's Mr Bolton by the way. Was an excellent show with a great standard.

I will see how the timing is but either myself or my training partner will be doing the one in Hull pretty sure its the day after the Bolton , PCA is defo the new top title in the UK right now , thats how the sentiment is from the gyms ive visited recently, my fear is that as an over 40 the standard maybe way too high for me, the seniors is a lottery !

Competed for ukbff in 2014 as I found that as I'd taken cissus-drol 5 years before (contains an aromatase inhibitor) I couldn't compete in BNBF until about 2016.  Came 8th out of 9 in the first timers, which as I've never taken gear I was pretty happy with.

Fancy competing again at some point - possibly 2019 as that'll be me turned 40.

I find this interesting as I'm very cynical about most tested federations in any sport at the top level.  I think cissus-drol was quite low level even if you'd have taken it the day before let alone 5 years before.  I applaud your honesty.

I competed once last year in tall physique at ukbff NW, after winning the SUC 5 weeks earlier. I did OK for age 37 and natural but not top 3. Afterwards I was really disappointed and sacked it all off (sold entire home gym) and changed focus to long distance running! I also unfollowed everything gym related on fb, I was comparing myself to pro/people on gear. It wasn't healthy developing body issues.
Anyway, I've got a marathon in May and an ultra in July. I recently looked back at the pics and without a skewed eye I am really pleased with how I looked.
I've just rejoined my local gym but my main focus will be endurance for the foreseeable future.

Loads, almost every federation now - and there's still more to do.

Pics too many to choose from.

I've reached my goal of competing internationally, now it's time to have a go at the tested federations - one of which I did compete with in 2016.

I've got an invite tot he worlds in Rome in Oct for IBFA , not sure that fed counts , managed to win British over 40s in same fed , plan to do a PCA qualfier closer to October, I think PCA is the top fed now , Nabba and UKBFF seem in decline from a BBing pov.
