Why Do All Singers Sing American?

Correct me if I am wrong, but every British singer that has ever lived has sung with an US twang to their singing voice/accent, why?

if you can find me a video to contradict this then can you let me know.

Not all do but alot do  or with a transatlantic accent.  I think it's to do mostly with longer vowel sounds as the vowels are what produce the sound whereas consonants cut it off.

because it sounds significantly better then singing in 'english'

compare the Artic Monkeys or any other UK 'Indie' band to an American Band, say The Gaslight Anthem

I know which one doesn't rape my ears

Oh right so singing sounds more like an American sound than a British sound does due to the more relaxed vowels?

I think because there are more Americans than British, more English speakers who speak with an American accent than a British one, more American bands than British bands, so every British person grew up listening to American bands. For many, it sticks

Also I believe it's actually taught by main stream vocal teachers in this country that the American accent is "neutral", which is obviously bollocks but if that's what's taught....

There are plenty of British vocalists who sing in a British accent, so many there's no need for an example, but there are of course many more who sing American style

Lily Allen, The Darkness, Madness are three off the top of my head that sing in a British accent but there are oodles more as Drab said.

    Eliza Doolittle.

Also as much modern music originated from America, it's only natural that people will sound similar, for most cases. Imagine trying to sing Blues with a cockney accent, or northern accent. Doesn't actually work. ;)

I'm not sure about this American accent thing, its not something Iv noticed particularly....can anyone provide examples of this?
I do find white English people singing with a jamaican accent hilarious though...That dickhead with the silly hat springs to mind and then theres this guy....absolutely unbelievable, what a tool.
