Why run in the morning?

Hey guys,

I'm wanting to lose some body fat (I've got abs under there!). I want to get the abs out. I know I have to lose the fat through cardio. I've heard that a run first thing in the morning is best...is that true? Anyone know why?

Any good exercises to tone up the abs other than standard crunches?

Any advice would be much appreciated,
Tom

If you run at night, people usually think you are running from something like the police, so it's hassle free in the mornings

Festar: You can't plead poverty with 2 cars. That's like a little Kenyan chap pleading poverty with 2 packets of uncle bens rice hidden under his bed.

I can see the logic there! But I have read a few things where people are saying to get up early and run on empty (I should have mentioned that bit earlier). Is this to boost metabolism or something?

People advocate running on empty to get in the fat burning zone whilst in a starved state however most would consider jogging too high intensity and will burn muscle. An hour powerwalk on empty would probably be better. Many people have many view on this, this is just one

Fasted steady state carido is good for fat loss mate. As redbull says a 45min - 1 hr power walk is plenty.

You need your heart rate to be around 60% of max. Mine aged 34, 180lbs and 10% bodyfat is around 125-130 bpm

First thing in the morning your blood sugar levels are at their lowest so at 60% you burn predominantly fat.

It doesn't have to be jogging, powerwalking or cycling or even a cross trainer will get the job done. Just stick to 60%!

Fasted steady state cardio (SSCV) is a bit controversial, mate. I personally agree that it is a useful method of buring fat.
The basic idea, as j55, and others, state above, is that if you do SSCV in the morning you burn more body/fat than you would on a full or part-full stomach. This is principally because of the low level of blood sugar.

would be u still be at risk of burining muscle even if u had like a 50gram protein shake in water before working out in the morning?
