Women's fitness becoming too extreme?

This shot was taken today at the 2005 NPC USA weighins. This lady is competing is fitness. What do you girl's think of her conditioning? I think she is wayyyy too dry and lean for fitness and it just doesn't look femimine at all, but then again what is femimine? Personal preference?

The drugs use has recently become all too obvious on mens and womens bodybuilding but it now seems as if its intruding onto fitness in a big way.

Thoughts?

I would like to have that body if it is natural. i don't know if it was your guess or if you know she actually took drugs but if it's not natural (for men and women) if they took steroids i think that's extreme.

why do you think its only extreme if she takes steroids?

Im suprised at the replies. I think she looks horrible. She is a cute girl but her face and body are so dried out and now all the other girls have to take the drugs neccessary to reach that level of conditioning. I think its being pushed and pushed way too far.

Surely fitness is about fitness? She doesnt look fit at all....she looks like shes about to die.

Kitty you competed but kept a good level of femiminity and werent extremely dried out like her. How would you feel if the judges constantly rewarded that look over yours so you feel you have to take and do what it takes to reach that level of conditioning? Im suprised by your reply.

I think it's extreme if they took steroids because your body knows how much you can cope with, if you take drugs your pushing your self past a healthy limit, if she was actually unhealthy without the use of drugs she wouldn't beable to enter the competition because she'ld be too weak, ahhhh it's in my head but it's too hard to explain, does any of what i just said make sense?

I wanted to be a little lighter in weight which may have caused me to look that way. I now have to aim to be lighter for the final as I'm moving to physique.

dark knight, how are you babe?

i think her condition is good yes but as kitty was saying american body fitness is the same as our figure. if you have been to any nabba britain shows in the last couple of years, you would have seen some very dry and vascular ladies...including myself.

i know it aint everyone cuppa tea but when there is a standard set, all girl have to match that or they wont be in with a chance.

there was a german girl at nabba worlds in 2003 and imo she should have won due to her dryness and xtra lean body...the girl was freaky lean but she was lucky that her face didnt loose the fat and she looked so pretty, whereas i look ****e from the neck up while on a diet cos my face just disapears and im left looking like an addict.....

im 7 weeks out at the moment and i think i am a bit leaner than the pic posted above. glutes are ripped and abs are vascular and i still have approx 12lbs to get rid of i think.

as i said the girls have to follow the standard thats set by everyone else.

    nice to see you

Fitness isn't just judged on conditioning and they do have a harder look in the states.

Im talking about US fitness since shes a US fitness competitor. I dont know anything about UK fitness.

I see the appeal of that level of conditioning in womens BBing but for fitness I think that look shouldnt be awarded personally. They should be judged more on their routines and display a nice female look imo, not a dried out drug look.

I thought some of you ladies would agree with that. Ahh well!

If you look at her body I would not say she is too dry. I would also put her age in her late 40's. A low bodyfat also makes most women look older in the face due to less fat to smooth out the wrinkles. I think this is why she looks like this not due to drugs

i think the US fitness girls look fantastic! Strong, hard, muscular and ripped....

the US figure girls are slightly softer and more curvaceous than the fitness girls so you could always look at them if you dont like the fitness girls?
